Daggers Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 If you are actually interested (which I highly doubt) i'd look at highlights of ... I am well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of the relevant teams
TonyDorigo Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Think you'll win the play-offs Tony Dorigo to be fair.Think Peterborough will fluff it. Millwall 2nd You'll beat MK Dons then Peterborough. Like has been said before if you don't go up you'll still have Grayson what ever happens (we got Pearson and thats why we've done well IMO) Must say the most positive thing for me from this game outside promotion is that the banter has been good with Leeds fans. Didn't get the mindless idiots spoiling it with idiotic chants (on both sides), and (yourself included) had some decent discussion with Leeds fans. Hopefully it signals a return to a 'friendly' rivalry between the clubs. To be honest, I think it'll be a Leeds vs S****horpe/Tranmere final. I expect to get MK in the playoffs, and we should overturn them. I agree with your idea that Millwall will get second, but think that Peterborough will be hit for 6 and not make it through the semis. At Wembley, who knows? If I was a betting man, i'd bet on Leeds to get to Wembley and mess it up. Its a horrible re-occuring pattern. Ah well, maybe we'll celebrate a goal there this time! As for a friendly rivalry, i'd like to hope so. As i've said, I have a few friends who support the foxes, so the banter for me is always there. If the fixture was seen as more of a "rivalry" in the next few years, it'd make it even more exciting for me personally. It was my first time visiting Leicester City this year, and enjoyed myself immensly, as it was a very nice day, very good support, and for a new ground, very nice. The views were good (as expected) but it just seemed a little better than the rest of the new grounds. Not sure why, maybe it was sunstroke. Your toilets are rank though!
Finnegan Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 The Beckford argument is sort of pointless, really. I don't see that Leeds created a lot of opportunities that Beckford would have bagged that other strikers didn't. They didn't create much at all - forwards need service, they don't just magic the ball to their feets and take the whole world on. Beckford's a fairly decent League One striker he isn't Messi or Maradona.

And in any case, he'd have got into more positions where the midfield could find him, rather than bloody Dickinson. And in any case, it's Sodje who thinks he's Maradonna

If your so reliant on Beckford, I fancy one of the other teams!!
TonyDorigo Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 Well good luck to you, i'd hate us to be in the play offs, it's gonna be very tough for all teams in there!!! If your so reliant on Beckford, I fancy one of the other teams!! Its a shame, but we are. Our hopes really do rely on Beckford being fit and up for selection. It probably is the only reason we accept his attitude. Not only does he offer so much talent up front, he gives so much confidence to the team. Just knowing he's there and waiting sparks our midfield into life. He's not just a player for Leeds, he's actually a confidence booster. Its a shame, because the rest of the team is talented, and to a certain extent would fit in well in the championship. They just need to realise they can do it without Beckford. Heck, they rely on him more than Delph, and everyone else thinks he's the bloody messiah.
Darkzzz_ Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 I actually think this Tony Dorigo is one of the more clued up Leeds fans. Certainly puts some of the fools from that club we have had on here to shame. If Leeds fail again this time round, I shall expect half of those players to move on. That would mean Leeds would need to rebuild again. If Leeds don't go up with this squad, they are set for an even longer stay in League 1, possibly a lifetime. Like he says, it is a lottery in the playoffs, I am sure most Leeds fans are only talking about how good their support is because they haven't really had much else to cheer about, it is hiding their jealousy and pain. The table doesn't lie, Leeds haven't been good enough and we have. We are doing something they have failed to do, bounce back at our first attempt. My message to the idiots who keep banging on about their support: All I say is Leeds change the record, your support is ok yes, but who cares, everybody hates you and your a very average League One side. You being loud doesn't earn you any extra points does it? Or maybe in the Leeds world it does. I don't know any more with you lot. Enjoy the JPT next season. "We all love Lids"

"We all love Lids" Thankyou dear Anyway, I have to agree. The likes of Beckford and Delph will be the big sellers, all we can hope for if we're League One is that a bidding frenzy somehow knocks up the price (In Delphs case, fairly likely). The likes of Snodgrass and Howson will be the main names for us to keep hold of. They'll be told that they're the main focal point of Leeds United 2009/10. For these two, itll work... it'll be the last time it will though. Luckily for us, we finally have a manager that seems to know how to buy good players with limited budgets etc. The likes of Sodje, who admittedly has only played 3 games, but has been amazing, will be hopefully kept (Likely, he bloody loves it with us!). From then on, our whole season and foreseeable future will depend on how the sumer deals go. Regarding our support, I think for one thing, we're so proud of it because put bluntly, it's kept the club alive. Many beleive that without the fans, this club would have died a few years back. We hold pride in that. Also, once we enter the stands, we have done everything we can to back the team. Everyone talks about a 12th man, well we do as much as we can to give it 'em, so we can hold pride in that. You are right, it doesnt mean anything to the league table etc, but after the decade we've had, you draw on as many positive moments as you can. This is one of them. Had you been so close to being a European Force, and then to go through this because of Peter Ridsdale's stupid fooking risks, you'd probably do the same. Infact, I think anyone would. Is that okay?
moseeds Posted 14 April 2009 Posted 14 April 2009 For some reason I don't think Leeds will win the playoff this year because of the huge expectation surrounding the club. Unfortunately that means next season there is even greater competition in League 1 with Charlton, Southampton and possibly Forest/Norwich/Barnsley to join them. Leeds also have to win their next game at home to ensure that S****horpe cannot leapfrog them into the playoffs with their extra games in hand.

With the way things are going for Charlton and Southampton, I wouldnt fear them. Charlton will be like a fire sale this summer, whilst Southampton have so many financial worries at the moment. I mean, if the FL get their way, they could have 10 points docked, and then another 15 if the CVA isnt arranged. Infact, the likes of yourselves, and, just for arguments sake, Millwall and Peterborough leaving the league and them joining would be a little easier on us, IMO. As for expectancy, we've had it every time, and every time it's bitten us in the arse. It could still happen again, although i'm confident that Grayson wont allow it. Still such a lottery though, so I dont have a clue what'll happen.

Fair comment. My last part was tongue in cheek at some of the fools from Waccoe that have come on here and not even given a worthy debate. I am by no means saying this forum doesn't have it's bad eggs but over there they seem to have a tray full. If it was true about the "Turkey" gestures that some of our fans were giving out then that is sad, I hate to see anything like that and I don't associate myself with fans of that kind, because they are simply not fans. Just thugs and we have enough in football as it is. We are football fans, the banter is always good as long as it flows two ways and as I said, some members of Waccoe can't accept that at all. I have actually come across some decent Leeds fans on the 606 forums, some of them even hate Waccoe too. These kind of fans from no matter what club they support are the fans I respect.
