Lee Miller

Well i've watched him play and seen all the goals he's scored for Hearts and I rate him. I'm sorry if people disagree, but i'm only going on what i've saw and couple that with his record he looks quite a prospect. He did only 9 goals last season for Brizzle, which is shocking but players can have seasons like this. If players were written off every time they had a shit season, then there would only be a handfull of professional players still playing.

Brizzle might think he's shit and fair enough, but from what i've seen of him he's better than De Vries and quite alot of strikers i've seen playing at Leicester's level.

Brizzle need a centre half desperately and I think a £200,000 + Matt Heath deal sounds tasty.

Another example, Simon Yeo.

Two seasons ago he scored 6 goals, had a barren patch of about 6 months, and then scored the goal that sent Lincoln into the playoffs in the 86th minute

This season he's scored 23 goals, became the first Lincoln player to score a hat-trick in the league for Lincoln since 1997 (since Gareth Ainsworth) and the first away from home in over 10 years and scored in 7 consectutive matches, breaking the post war record.

So this Lee Miller could turn out to be pretty nifty.

You work for Bluewater do you? :ermm::unsure::huh::unsure::D:D:D:P:thumbup:;)

One of my mates at uni here is a Brizzle city fan and he says Miller's quality, a legend in his words but apparently Tinnion didn't like him.

Would cost too much: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/footbal...-name_page.html 400k according to the Daily Record.

Look at my 8 signings thread, his wages wouldn't be that much as we'd pay more than Aberdeen and Hearts. £400,000 for a striker with 10-12 years left in the game is peanuts, especially an international striker, albeit for Scotland!

I think we could afford it, depending on his other targets. Remember, Levein hasn't ever not paid money for a player unlike Micky which makes me think he's more shrewder when it comes to wages. He'd rather pay for quality than quantity. Excellent

Yes but all that money was made from the cup run. I don't think we'll have 400k to spend on one player this summer, maybe on several players collectively but not just one.

Perhaps Levein has got the rest of his signings lined up as free transfers. I think if we were really desperate we could find £400,000. His wages wouldn't be that much, all in all you'd get him for just as much as a player who was on £10,000 a week on a free transfer. If we can't afford him fair enough, but remember we aren't signing 15 players like we did last season and with the savings we've made I think we've got a tidy budget.

great, another dodgy striker who might score a few goals if he manages to get in good form, just what we need...

107821[/snapback]

I bet every player we sign has had a bad season in their career, so on your theory we need to sign 20 new players. Get realistic please, this lad has been scoring goals this season he's on form now. His bad season is in the past, surely that's all that matters?

Bolton have agreed terms with Rangers for their striker Dado Prso. He will be replaced by on loan Hearts striker Lee Miller. Totally true.

It's a bit weird how you've said i'm 'not right in the head' for mentioning Graham Barret, who, fair enough, hasn't done too well but is an Irish international and is on a free, then go on about someone who was just as bad in a division below.

Anyway, i wouldn't pay the £400k that's been quoted for Miller, so unless we could at least halve that then i wouldn't pursue it. I wouldn't really mind getting rid of Heath in exchange though.

Except he moved to a League much higher in standard than that of League 1 and the CCC and bagged 11 goals in 20 games and has been selected for his national squad.

How he's an international is beyond me. Plus this lad is in form as we speak, Barratt hasn't done anything for about 5 seasons abit of a difference if you ask me. Also if Barrett has scored 44 goals in 110 starts at any levels please show me and i'll take back what I said.

It's better than League One yeah, wouldn't say it's much higher than the championship though ;)

I guess he's still young though but £400,000 is too much to be spending on someone who has had a chance and didn't cut it in England for my liking.

I would agree to a certain extent and they wouldn't be charging that price but he's been out on loan and scored alot of goals at quite a high level and has now been calle din to the national squad. Brizzle paid £325,000 for him so they'll atleast want to recoup that.

He's not, but where's he been? Arsenal and Coventry, a bit different to Falkirk, where Miller got the vast majority of his goals, i thought Barrett had been converted to a winger to be honest, may have got that wrong, i don't know. He's also free and was just a suggestion, i haven't seen him play for a while so maybe he has lost it.

I'm not really disagreeing that we should get Miller, he looks like a good talent, but i feel that the £400k could be spent better. Just saying i didn't really appreciate that comment you made, i don't really mind if you don't agree with me or anything. If it was just light-hearted then i apologise for taking it the wrong way.

It was light hearted, but with a touch a seriousness in there. Signing any player from Coventry is bad enough, but a crap one at that is unforgivable :D

£400,000 is alot, but then for a player with 10-12 years ahead of him and soon to play international football it's quite shrewd. His wages would be alot less than some of the strikers we have been linked with and you often have to pay for quality.

Has it been confirmed then? (going by your next post) :o

Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown has revealed that Aberdeen's bid for striker Lee Miller is 'not at the level' they want.

Miller, who has been called up by Scotland for their World Cup matches against Moldova and Belarus, is currently on-loan with Hearts.

Lansdown said: "We've said all along that Lee warrants a decent fee and his call-up to the Scotland squad simply underpins that.

"There is interest in him from Aberdeen, who have come in and made an offer - although at the moment that's not at the level we want it to be.

"I have not seen any figures from Hull, although there are also a couple of other clubs from the Championship and Scotland who have also expressed an interest."

He added: "Hearts have gone quiet now and in my opinion the saga of whether they are going to buy him or not has been going on too long.

"Nothing has been agreed as yet with anybody and when his loan at Hearts is up, Lee will come back to us. We could have a potential international available to us next season, and that excites me as much as getting the money for him."

Bristol City have told Aberdeen to up their £250,000 bid for striker Lee Miller or they will take him back to England.

MILLER IN DEMAND UP NORTH

On-loan Hearts striker Lee Miller could become the subject of a bidding way north of the Border following his call-up to the Scotland squad.

The Bristol City 21-year-old was allowed to go out on loan by manager Brian Tinnion in January, having failed to score since February 2004.

But 11 goals in 20 starts for the Jambos have propelled him into the Scotland squad to face Moldova and Belarus next month.

Hearts, who have just parted company with head coach John Robertson, have long been in negotiations but Aberdeen have also expressed an interest and the player, who cost £300,000 from Falkirk in July 2003, has even been linked with Rangers.

But Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdowne insisted the price had now gone up.

He told the Scottish Daily Mirror: "Hopefully this news will send his fee into the stratosphere!

"He is on loan at Hearts and when that ends he will come back at the end of the season.

"They have made several bids but I have been consistent all along and there is now interest from Aberdeen, though at the moment that is not at the level where we would like it to be."

Scotland manager Walter Smith was keen to play down his part in the price hike.

He said: "That's a club situation. My only concern is that he has been playing very well.

"If he had been here for a full season he would maybe have featured a bit earlier."

Just out of interest Hoof, where do you stand in the 'Mark de Vries debate'? Do you think he's a donkey and useless or lacking fitness and we haven't seen the best of him?

Interesting thread guys, just to put you inthe picture from the fans point of view. Miller has been a revelation since he joined us. Apparently the new manager at BC didnt fancy him and as he'd had a few injury problems was only too glad to get shot of him on loan 'til the end of the season. He was allegedly offered to us for 100,000 in the transfer window but as we were in the middle of our Lithuanian buy out we were not in a possition to do the deal. Since the change of owner ship weve gone back with better offers for the end of the season but every time big Lee bangs in another goal the w****** chairman at BC rejects the offer and sticks another 50,000 on the asking price. Everyone up here thinks Romanov should just get out the cheque book with the alleged unlimited resorces and do the deal but the word is that he doesnt like been held to ranson by some lower league numpty who was desperate to off load him in the transfer window and we're afraid we'll lose him at the end of the season if The Huns come calling. The issue up here is whether our Lithuanians really are serious about challenging The old firm in which case they'll do the deal or risk losing him to you ,the huns or anyone who'll pay this weeks asking price!! all this is a very long winded way of saying that he really looks the part. Ive seen him 5/6 times and he looks a very complete player, so HANDS OFF !
