markbsac Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 the lads got a great future in front of him...i liked him from the very first day i saw him...he will get better and end up a really great defender in my eyes
dandannieldanok Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 As you can see with my sig I think highly of him, have been impressed with his attitude and tbh he looks like he's been a football league player all his life. It looks increasingly likely he'll be a bit-part player at most next season but I would not be at all disappointed if he filled in with the same regularity as this season.
Koke Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 I'm happy for him. He's probably living the dream. A non-league player last year and in August he'll be a Championship player. That doesn't happen often.
TrickyTrev Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 He's done a lot better than anyone could have reasonably expected. Earned a crack at Championship football. Lets not expect too much though, its a big leap.
dodododougan Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 I like Morrison - after the Leeds game when np put his arm around Morrison that he might have been telling him that he could be our new permanant right back
flanimal Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 If any non league players could step up the leagues it's defenders and goalkeepers. But yeah, Morrison was another great signing.
Salieri Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 I like Morrison - after the Leeds game when np put his arm around Morrison that he might have been telling him that he could be our new permanant right back Hope not. He's a centre back, just able to fill in at right back. I like to see players played in their best positions and that, for Morrison is undoubtedly at centre back.
lcfc_jme Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 Mike the Hoof has had a quality first season in league football. Strong, can head the ball and doesn't get beaten very often. It'll be interesting to see how he copes with the extra pace and quality of the Championship next season, but then most of the teams we'll come up against are hoofball teams so that could play into his hands. I for one will never chastise this man for playing a pass along the ground, even if it's abysmal and goes astray. It's MUCH better than his early distribution - Kisnorbo-type hoofing, hence his current nickname. His short passing can only get better, really.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 If any non league players could step up the leagues it's defenders and goalkeepers. But yeah, Morrison was another great signing. What?
jonw88 Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 He sort of reminds me of John Terry, as much as I hate him. Think he'll develop and become even better over the next season, his versatility means that he could well be called to play at RB or CB if needed so he's very useful to have around. When he's played as a RB, can anyone tell me what his crossing is like and how much he gets forward, say in comparison to Gilbert?
Lillehamring Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 So surely me saying that it's getting boring is my opinion? Not being funny or anything but aint everyone entitled to their own opinion on here? except that her opinion was an opinion on the topic, yours was an opinion about her opinion - yes, your entitled to it, but absolutely necessary? probably not...

lcfc_jme Posted 4 May 2009 Posted 4 May 2009 except that her opinion was an opinion on the topic, yours was an opinion about her opinion - yes, your entitled to it, but absolutely necessary? probably not... Mine is also an opinion on her opinion: How somebody can like Joe Mattock and not Wayne Brown is shocking. Wayne is by far and away a better player in his preferred position than Joe Mattock is in his. Wayne has also performed better for us than Mattock this season. I'm glad Wayne Brown will be here next season. Can't say the same about Joe.
FilboFox Posted 5 May 2009 Posted 5 May 2009 I really like Morrison... he's done a damn fine job for us at the back this year and deserves all the praise he gets. Were it not for him, I think we'd have been far more suspect at the back this year and would probably have struggled to win the league... certainly as easily as we did in the end.
stuarthammonds Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Having read your insightful views on how Michael Morrison has done for you over the year, I thought I'd take the opportunity to direct you to an interview I did with him for The Non-League Paper this week. Morro (or 'Bowser' as he is known among the City boys, apparently) is one of many Non-League boys who have made the step up in the last couple of years, and we are catching up with as many as possible over the summer months. He talks at length in a double-page spread on his upbringing at Cambridge, the pain he has felt at Wembley as a player and fan over the last two years and, of course, his magnificent season with Leicester, working with Nigel Pearson, his partnership with Jack Hobbs and the influence of the likes of Chris Powell and Aleksander Tunchev. Apologies for the blatant advert, but you can get hold of a copy today or tomorrow in your local newsagent, supermarket or petrol station. For those of you who have a second team as well, we have news and (during the season) match reports on the likes of Hinckley and Shepshed, and this week have a big interview with former Quorn striker Liam Hearn on how he is rebuilding both his life and career after starting last season in prison, but finishing it with 22 goals in 24 matches and a call-up to the England Non-League international side. Once again, sorry for the invasion but hope some of you may find it of interest. Even though I'm a Nottingham lad (County, not Forest you'll be pleased to know) I wish you all the best for a successful season back in the Championship. Stuart Hammonds

jonw88 Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Did anyone see him on Soccer AM last week? He was supporting one of the army lads doing the test, and Helen was ripping him about Cambridge.

Thracian Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 His performances at right back were a bonus. He looked much safer there than Hobbs and having an alternative position always increases your value to the manager. To be honest it came as a surprise. He's not the fastest nor an accomplished passer but he looked keen to get forward in support. He was never a let down at centre-back either. He was up against strong competition from Tunchev (til his injury) and Hobbs but I could never understand why he was made to make way for Kisnorbo. He consistently scored 6's, 7's and even a fair number of eights in the player ratings and the defence as a unit maintained a record which suggested those marks were well justified. Hopefully he will continue the good work next season whether he remains first choice or not. Again one of Pearson's challenges will be to keep all his leading defenders fit, involved and interested.

scinnell Posted 25 May 2009 Posted 25 May 2009 We need to change Morrison from a centre back to a right back.
