Is it sad...?

... To go to football matches on your own?

I've yet to buy a season ticket yet, purely because the guys I used to go with are moving away and have commitments so one can't justify buying an ST. The other guy says he can't afford it (and probably isn't that hardcore of a fan anyway), but is still up for going to some of the bigger matches.

I've asked around, and all the football fans I know are supporting their teams on saturday, or don't like football that much to commit to an ST.

I don't want to stop going to matches, but I'm not sure going on my own will be any good, given that the greatness of being a supporter, for me, is the shared experience.

So, what do I do? Is there a group for disowned lonesome Leicester fans, or do I just go for it and be a saddo?! I'm worried that going to City matches is alone is how it all started for that City fan Bernie (check him out on YouTube!)

It's not sad at all.

But if it bothers you that much, there are plenty of folk from here you can hook up with before the game, in any number of hostelries within walking distance of the ground.

Go with DB11.

He'll appreciate the company.

Alcohol is essential pre-match. You won't care if you get enough down yer.

I had a season ticket in L1 as my mate didn't want it so I paid game by game for it. My mates were on the other end of L, so I was on a row on which I knew no one. By the end of the season I knew the lads around me and I could hold a conversation with them. Essentially, you won't be on your own by the end of the season if you have any luck.

My dad's been going down on his own for years, and he's also got to know the people he sits with, so it's no longer a problem.

I can see you problem, though. It is better to go with your mates, but it's not the end of the world as you know it if you can't.

Loving the other considered and diplomatic responses followed by Shingler's simple 'yes'.

God-like. :worship:

Seriously though, as Ultra says there are plenty of watering holes you can meet fellow FTers prior to games. No need to go to games on your own, unless of course you want to.

I should point out that I am horribly drunk, and apologise profusely for talking crap.

Not really.

As others have said, you will become familiar with your neighbours and will get to know more people.

I'd go for it, and see what happens

Not as sad as sitting for hours on your own posting on Foxestalk.

:D

I generally go on my own but wander over and find some of this lot to drink with.

It isn't sad at all. I will more than likely be sitting on my own next season. My girlfriend will come to some games with me but not all. Away days are simple, just meet up with the good folk off here. You could even meet them before a home game I guess.

I would keep well away from the lad that dresses as Jack Sparrow. He preys on the lonely.

I travel on my own but meet up with people, be it FT'ers or other friends at the stadium.

Do you sit in the North Stand?

Just I've seen you in the concourse at matches before

Ah, you should come and say hello!

Far enough, think I'll go for it then. If anyone wants to, they can join me and all "the drinks are on me"! Like a proverbial Milky Bar kid - only not a four-eyed albino!

What pubs do you mostly gather in? I suppose it's quite stupid talking about this now, since the next game isn't for about 3 years...

Rather Johnny Depp than Freddie Mercury.

Your moustache has gaids.

I think Lisa and Sir Fynwy dumped the Swan & Rushes some time ago..

lol

Next season I will dress up as him as long as you dress up as Elton. Oh and we must be handcuffed to each other.

Chris is our master. We are his sexual slaves.
