Leicester City are offering fans an opportunity to play at the Walkers Stadium as part of the club's 125-year anniversary celebrations.

A total of 18 teams will do battle on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25 for the six-a-side 125-year anniversary Cup.

Leicester legends, including celebrities and former sports stars, are being invited to take part in the event.

And the fans are being given the chance to play alongside and against their heroes.

Each squad will receive a team photograph as a souvenir of the occasion, will experience the changing-room facilities and have the opportunity to walk down the tunnel.

Among the City legends who have been invited to play are Matt Elliott and Gerry Taggart.

City chief executive Lee Hoos said: "Our supporters have played an integral part in our immediate return to the Coca-Cola Championship and this day offers a fantastic opportunity to recreate their own magic moments from a memorable season. This will be a unique day."

The cost for this full-day event is £690, inclusive of VAT, and that guarantees each team at least five matches.

Registration starts at 9am, with matches beginning at 9.30am.

The tournament is scheduled to finish at 3pm when trophies will be presented by one of the legends. A post-match buffet will be served in the 1884 Sports Bar where the Coca-Cola Championship play-off final will be screened.

To book, call 0844 815 5000, visit the City ticket office between 9am and 5pm on Mondays to Saturdays or between 10am and 2pm on Sundays, or e-mail: [email protected]

Tempted, but £690, Ouch. £115 per person.

I'll see, would love to play in it, even though i'm awful - Hey might win an award for worst player :giggle:

If that was a bit cheaper pp we could enter a FT team.

I guess they would expect companies or larger groups of mates so it would be 10 or so people in a squad, rather than a strict 6.

I think if you weren't too serious at wanting to win, and you just wanted play on the pitch against the Legends - then it seems more reasonable (especially when it can be £30 each to enter a tournament at Goals). It might be a one off for the 125 anniversary, so might not get another chance at it.

I'm thinking about getting my Saturday team in for it - use the club fines kitty for it.

Wouldnt a season ticket be a better use of money?

I was thinking that as well. It is a bit expensive for the average Joe.

Really wanna play in this but 1) I'm shit - I know it's only abit of fun anyway, 2) I'd probably die through lack of fitness - Again I know it's only fun and it probably () won't be that competitive, e.t.c and 3) Me and many people I have asked can't justify the price anyway.

Anyone think this is gonna die on it arse? I'm not sure they will have enough for 18 teams like they have planned :dunno:

Just can't see anyone pay the asking price, or being able to afford the asking price.

Might be a long shot but you could get your employer to chip in or some sponsorship for it. I think companies could write this off in expenses or something - and you could help them get some exposure or memorabilia in return (get some shirts printed and try an win the thing!)

Yes considering a charity ran a similar event on Saturday with a lot more of the benefits available. Albeit it more expensive but it was 11-a-side game and the experience more than suggested in a 5-a-side comp.
