Leicester look to new Training Ground

EC, one question Rochdale have a Sports Science section yet they don't have a training ground of note. Explain.

What do you want me to explain? :dunno:

No I was pointing out that there has been no £15m payment into the club, I am well aware that 2 x £4.5m have gone into the club whether from MM or as loans secured by MM and we are on a much better financial footing (even if this is built on MM's loan guarantees). MM will do whatever it takes to maximise his investment and we can see this as a good thing in many ways as a successful club is a valuable club but selling an asset like the training ground comes with risks and although many clubs are releasing finance this way others are actively purchasing such assets. The clubs spin that our current facility is not capable is bull and they should be a bit more honest in their press releases.

lol

Okay I got the figures wrong (due to incorrect sources) but this is what I was getting at, yet you bypassed these facts for arguments sake and are now admitting what I was saying all along.

Chrysalis you're a dappa

Apologises wrong target reading back. Anyway my point is you don't need somewhere super duper for sports science facilties.

No worries

I suppose it's like having a gym in your garage opposed to going to a 5 star gym premises. You can have the facilities anywhere but the level of standard will differ depending on the infrastructure.

No the club was almost back in administration before MM came along and he 'fixed' the finances by backing any debt we had, you really need to look past the pr to see the facts. Selling the training ground is about making cash, lets hope some of it ends up at the club.

PS. did you hit your head when you crashed your bike?

Exactly, so to those who are bad mouthing MM at every opportunity, need to remember that we were in bad times financially and we would most probably be a lot worst off without him.

In regards to the training ground only time will tell.

PS. did you hit your head when you crashed your bike?

I'm not sure what you're on about. I can't recollect crashing, in fact I can't ride a bike. :whistle::giggle:

Acknowledging that those who preceded Mandaric were utter ****wits doesn't mean you have to get on your knees, open your mouth while lubing up your arse to accept his magnificent tumescence.

New City training ground will rival the best, says Lee Hoos

Thursday, January 21, 2010, 08:00

Leicester City want a training ground to rival the best in the Midlands, chief executive Lee Hoos has said.

Hoos revealed to the Leicester Mercury last month that the club was in the very early stages of planning a move away from their 12.7 acre Belvoir Drive training ground as the current facilities are no longer adequate.

A potential new site has not yet been identified, although Hoos has not ruled out building facilities at Loughborough University, and it could be several years before a move is realised.

During Craig Levein's tenure as manager in 2005, City trained at Loughborough when new pitches were re-laid at Belvoir Drive and needed time to mature.

However, Hoos said they wanted a training ground to rival the amenities that clubs such as Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers now possess.

Villa's Bodymoor Heath facility, which features several full-sized pitches, an artificial pitch and tennis courts, is now considered one of the best in the country after a recent redevelopment, while Wolves' Compton site features several full-sized pitches surrounding a state-of the art main building.

Hoos said both were models of what City had in mind for their new training base, and he admitted he even hoped they could build facilities to rival the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.

"I don't think Belvoir Drive is an adequate training ground and we will be looking to move," said Hoos.

"We only have one full-sized pitch. It isn't on one level and you are restricted with what you can do with it.

"In an ideal world, you would have the facility in the middle and the pitches all around it.

"It makes more sense to try and find somewhere where there are an adequate number of pitches that can be used, as opposed to redeveloping the existing place with only one full-sized pitch available.

"It is very early days and it is a long process. It isn't something that is going to happen next week. The moving vans aren't going to suddenly turn up and we are off to somewhere else.

"We might have been there for a long time but sport has moved on quite a bit now.

"Locally, Aston Villa and Wolves have great complexes, but the two that are the beacons would be Arsenal and Chelsea. They are fantastic facilities. I looked at them when I was at Fulham and we were moving training ground.

"Sports science has moved even more since then, in terms of hydrotherapy and the ice baths and everything they do now.

"We have absolutely no idea how much the land is worth because it is so early in the process.

"We haven't looked at any potential new sites either.

"I have looked around the area but it is very early on. It is very, very early in the process."

milan selling the training grond then he only took city on to make money i bet the money he makes from the sale will go in his back pocket

not invested in players or the club

he is a crook fact and running our club on a shoe string budget if he really cared he would invest some of his money on better players to help make us a decent outfit

the first team will soon be training at aylestone park fc watch this space

I don't know if anyone saw the bit in the article about it taking several years to effect a move. Mandaric could be long gone before the club is in a position to relocate the training facilities. :dunno:
