lou Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 My worst fear is to move away from our trentside home and to move into a run of the mill, average if spacey new stadium. Another thing I said.... I love your ground now and youre in danger of losing it and getting some Identikit fecking bowl. <_< Hope if doesnt happen to you
lcfcadam Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 To be fair, MK Dons and Plymouth home games will probably end up looking like this... Queen's Park FC Home Game at Hampden
Fez of Mahrez Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 To be fair, MK Dons and Plymouth home games will probably end up looking like this...Just before a Queen's Park FC Home Game at Hampden (I think) MK Dons might relocate to Scotland if they can pick up another couple of hundred fans up there to be fair.
davieG Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Pretty much word for word what I said when I heard. Feel for the fans of some of the clubs that have got it, upgrading the stadia could finish some of them and it could all be for nothing... I forgot to add by 2018 I'll probably be dead, senile or totally past caring Oh hang on some on here already think I'm senile and I don't care now!

Maybes Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 How have Plymouth - a glorified village - been chosen....baffles me somewhat?! It has the potential to ruin their club. Im glad we havn't been chosen - the walkers is soulless and empty enough as it is. Oh and MK Dons The joke continues.
davieG Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 6 Grounds that haven't been built chosen Liverpool has been included as a host city for England's 2018 World Cup bid despite uncertainty over the proposed new Anfield stadium but Hull, Derby and Leicester have missed out.Twelve cities and up to 17 potential venues have been selected by England 2018 including Milton Keynes, Plymouth and Bristol. England 2018 deputy chairman Lord Mawhinney, who headed the selection panel, said: "It would have been very hard to envisage an impressive World Cup bid with host cities that did not include iconic Liverpool. "England's fortunate to have so many good stadia and I would like to congratulate all of the applicant host cities for the seven months of really hard work they have put in. "We have chosen cities which present the lowest possible risk to FIFA and it's FIFA who will make the final decision. "There will also be a lot of disappointed football fans around the country I understand that - and if I was a fan of theirs I would be just as disappointed." Stadia to have missed out on selection included Pride Park, the Walkers Stadium, the KC Stadium, and Sheffield United's Bramall Lane. Outside of London, Manchester was the only city to have two stadia included - Old Trafford and the City of Manchester Stadium. Manchester United chief executive David Gill said: "It is great news that Old Trafford is part of England's bid. "It is the most historic of all the venues, celebrating its centenary in February 2010, and has hosted some major games in recent years. "I am confident that its inclusion makes England's exceptional bid even stronger." In London, Wembley and Arsenal's Emirates Stadium have both been chosen as has a third venue from either the new White Hart Lane or the Olympic Stadium. Mawhinney added: "With the new White Hart Lane or the Olympic Stadium we ran up against a problem where other people's timetable didn't quite mesh with ours. "We have seen pictures of the new iconic White Hart Lane stadium and it's going to be very splendid but at the moment it's at the planning point. "As far as the Olympic Stadium is concerned there's a debate going on about it and we are not in charge of that debate - there are some that think it should continue to be an 80,000-seater stadium and other voices saying the stadium should be reduced to 25,000. We don't get to make that decision, that's someone else's decision." If England win the bid - the vote is in December next year - then FIFA would choose 12 venues in 2013. World Cup Bid Stadia Sunderland - Stadium of Light London - Wembley Stadium Birmingham - Villa Park Manchester - City of Manchester Stadium Nottingham - new Nottingham Forest stadium London - Emirates Stadium Leeds - Elland Road Sheffield - Hillsborough Newcastle/Gateshead - St James' Park Bristol - new Ashton Vale stadium London - new White Hart Lane or Olympic Stadium Plymouth - Home Park Manchester - Old Trafford Liverpool - Anfield or new Anfield Milton Keynes - Stadium MK Seems like some of the gloaters should be careful if only 12 of the 15 are eventually picked by FIFA.
lou Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Lowest risk of what? Nottingham, Gun capital of the world?!
Edmund Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Lowest risk of what? Nottingham, Gun capital of the world?! It's hardly a gun capital is it? Sao Paulo, L.A, Bogota come to mind when you mention gun capital of the world. Nottingham
Joe. Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Plymouth?! Ridiculous decision. I'd hate it if I was a fan knowing that the stadium would only be around a quarter full. Obviously a lot can happen inbetween now and 2018 but Plymouth's situation on the pitch is hardly likely to improve. And isn't MK one of the most awkward places to get around? Some sort of grid system with a roundabout every junction or something...
Fosse Boy Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Absolute joke. The FA showing themsleves to be the same bunch of corrupt cunts that they always have been. Fuck off. Plymouth Argyle, MK Dons and Nottingham Forest suffering financial catastrophe as a result?BACK THE BID
Finchy Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 We all know Nottingham has been dining out on Robin Hood for way too long, but I can still accept why they'd pick them over us. What's annoying me though is how are cities like Leicester, Derby & Hull going to move forward and get rid of our image if we just get ignored for things like this? Still it's probably for the best. This could be an awful mistake for Plymouth and MK Dons.
Plymouth Pete Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Plymouth?! Ridiculous decision. I'd hate it if I was a fan knowing that the stadium would only be around a quarter full. Obviously a lot can happen inbetween now and 2018 but Plymouth's situation on the pitch is hardly likely to improve. Plymouth was chosen for geographical reasons, it may be in the bottom left corner of England but it is the apex of a France, Spain, England triangle with direct car ferry links to both. It is far easier for me to get to France than the Midlands, and costs £10 return, £25 if you take the car. Plymouth Hoe is a magnificent natural amphitheatre which regularly hosts 200,000 plus crowds for airshows, fireworks, yacht races and the like. I believe our half Japanese board envisage Home Park as a venue for Pop Concerts etc, they dont appear to have much interest in Plymouth Argyle football club, unfortunately. We will probally end up with the largest stadium in league two!
lou Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 It's hardly a gun capital is it? Sao Paulo, L.A, Bogota come to mind when you mention gun capital of the world. Nottingham It was a joke

Hull is getting absolutely raped by the recession, its the worst hit city in the country, it desperate needs a bit of investment cause there's so much potential. But MK and Plymouth are preferred? One of the cities who could genuinely benefit from the bid getting overlooked, such a travesty.
Edmund Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 It was a joke You've not caught the same disease as Uncle Albert have you? Seriously though I couldn't work out wether you were joking or not but to be fair people do mention Nottingham as gun crime capital of UK so thought it could be serious.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 MK Dons might relocate to Scotland if they can pick up another couple of hundred fans up there to be fair. fook it, we'll just move them down here Absolute joke. The FA showing themsleves to be the same bunch of corrupt ****s that they always have been.fook off. Do you really care that much? It's ridiculous, it's not about the team's history at all, it's about the bid they provide and MK have worked their tits off on a solid bid. No need to get so worked up about England Possibly getting the World Cup where Stadium:MK has a chance to get selected. Whoever said about Newport Pagnell Travelodge, don't worry, we have a Doubletree Hilton at the stadium now For my two pennies, I don't want us to get selected, although I do want us to finish the stadium. Not to extend it but to complete it, even if the top tier isn't used it will create a better atmosphere and experience by not letting all the sound escape through the sides. They don't need to open or staff the top tier until it is needed. Having a stadium so big however would be ridiculous. Say what you want about roundabouts and soul but MK is easy to get around, hardly ever has queues and has a great public transport system. There are plenty of places to stay and if you actually look there is a good nightlife as well. It's also a very safe place.
Guest Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 What did we expect ? Was pretty certain we wouldn't get it anyway. I mean, centrally located, regular transport, decent ground with international experience, ethnically diverse, regenerated city centre and a few other points i can't remember. Most would say that describes Nottingham too, but at least we have stadium. Fookin' tealeaves Regular transport? Are you having a laugh? It's our city's lack of infrastructure and shite public transport system that has lead the FA to look elsewhere! What's annoying me though is how are cities like Leicester, Derby & Hull going to move forward and get rid of our image if we just get ignored for things like this? Well our city council is going to spend millions on building a new bus station that isn't needed instead of improving the public transport system that is virtually non-existent and therefore doesn't justify such expense.
lou Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Seriously though I couldn't work out wether you were joking or not but to be fair people do mention Nottingham as gun crime capital of UK so thought it could be serious. Nah I was just playing on the Gun capital of the UK tag its got I cant see how Nottingham is worse for gun crime than places like South London or Moss Side to be honest?
The Doctor Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Regular transport? Are you having a laugh? It's our city's lack of infrastructure and shite public transport system that has lead the FA to look elsewhere! thats an understatment. I was stood at the bus stop to go to college for 35 minutes in the rain waiting for a bus thats ment to arrive every 15 minutes. This wasn't a one off either, happens every other morning.
Edmund Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Regular transport? Are you having a laugh? It's our city's lack of infrastructure and shite public transport system that has lead the FA to look elsewhere! Not to mention lack of cycle paths
Guest Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Not to mention lack of cycle paths I do think more needs to be done to make the city more cycle user-friendly. Actually.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Do you really care that much? It's ridiculous, it's not about the team's history at all, it's about the bid they provide and MK have worked their tits off on a solid bid. No need to get so worked up about England Possibly getting the World Cup where Stadium:MK has a chance to get selected. If the country I live in's going to host a World Cup and I have a problem with the corrupt cretins like Brian Mawhinney who are running the bid, I'll get worked up about it if I feel like it, OK? Oh, and it's not just all about you and MK ****** y'know, I have other problems with the bid too. The lack of foresight shown in the selection of host cities and the impact that this bid (if successful) would have on the English game doesn't bear thinking about. Clubs like Plymouth would never be able to sustain an unnecessarily gigantic stadium with such a small fanbase. I have F*rest mates who are deeply unhappy at the news that they'll have to move in to a horrid bowl now too if successful. If England is awarded the World Cup, then the self serving suits who somehow find themselves running football will inevitably get rich off the back of it, while the cities and clubs that they profess will benefit from host status will reap no long term rewards once the international media circus has disappeared and they find themsleves lumped with huge white elephants of stadiums, and the accompanying massive cost required to maintain them. Is the death of English club football really a reasonable sacrifice for four weeks of Summer 2018? Its all moot anyway. Hope you're right.
Guest ttfn Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Don't know if anybody saw the press conference but Lord Mawhinny - what a world class twazzock. Answered every question in an aggressive, dismissive manner and refused to answer any of them properly. Why the fook do they need 2 stadia serving the rugby hotbed that is the south west? There can't be more than 3 million people living within an hour's drive of Bristol and or Plymouth, and yet there are 2 stadia there?
