Ultra Posted 29 June 2009 Posted 29 June 2009 The Germans were tactically and technically superior. The scoreline tells no lies. At least Stuart Pearce can no longer be touted as a possible successor to Capello...
Steven Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Julian Joachim was needed just like 1993. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/20...d-under-18-1993
BlueSi13 Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Or maybe you should stop being jealous or trying to find defensive reasons Maybe you should realise that being bitter is the speciality of the football fan, especially when we have just been heavily defeated by our fiercest rivals I do think the Germany team is a shocker though, i read that only 2 of the starting line up came from German parents Its a shame to lose how we did, the first goal we could do nothing about, the second was a goalkeeping howler and the last 2 came through us pushing forward to find a reply and leaving huge gaps, therefore with an adequate goalkeeper and some strikers the game could have been a different story....we kept the ball easily but breaking them down was too much, the Germans just sat back and made us pay on almost every counter attack..... Either way i hope the young lions that will go onto the senior side will store the anger this defeat has brought them and correct the lessons that they were taught in this tournament, i think we'll be seeing many of them in the 2018 World Cup
Corky Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 There's no need to find any excuses. We did well to get to the final and we should be proud of that. We were just thoroughly outplayed by a decent German side on the night. This. The Under-21s did well in this tournament, despite the result last night.
Ultra Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 I do think the Germany team is a shocker though, i read that only 2 of the starting line up came from German parents Good to see they've finally binned the "master race" theory - shame it's around 70 years too late, though.. Either way i hope the young lions that will go onto the senior side will store the anger this defeat has brought them and correct the lessons that they were taught in this tournament, i think we'll be seeing many of them in the 2018 World Cup Walcott and maybe Richards will be in SA next year. But, apart from Joe Hart, I'm not sure many of the others will make the step up.
General Smuts Posted 1 July 2009 Author Posted 1 July 2009 Joe Hart - Will get more England caps - Will be at SA Scott Loach - No chance Joe Lewis - Jury's still out but could get a call up if he continues to improve in the next 6/7 years Nedum Onuoha - Needs to move to a club where he's guarenteed first team football. Martin Crainie - We'll see if he starts for Portsmouth this season and how he does. Michael Mancienne - See Nedum Onouha Andrew Taylor - No chance Richard Stearman - No chance Micah Richards - See Joe Hart Kieran Gibbs - See Joe Lewis James Tomkins - No chance James Milner - Has every chance of regular call ups in the next 5 years under MON's tutelage Mark Noble - See James Milner (under Zola) Adam Johnson - See Nedum Onuoha Fabrice Muamba - Not until Barry retires may get 1 or 2 caps Lee Cattermole - If theres any justice in the world he will be the next Gazza.
