Babylon Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 cheers...so 1 pound + per litre for petrol Could be £1.20 by the time you get here knowing petrol prices.
davieG Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 cheers...so 1 pound + per litre for petrol If you're lucky - it seems to be going up daily. Unless you're near a big supermarket that sells the stuff - I paid £1.06 yesterday.
Smudge Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 If you're going to rent a car, consider a diesel; I have just returned from the UK and I rented a VW Golf 2.0D and that got 52 miles to the gallon (11.4 miles per litre). I always use KeyDrive where they meet you at the airport "arrivals" and you're on your way in no time.
Anish Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 I'd say that a loaf of bread is more likely to be around £1.10-1.30 although maybe Sparky buys the half-loaf or supermarket's own brand.
Sparky Posted 28 June 2009 Posted 28 June 2009 Thats what I thought.More like £1.05 Was a guess , i only have to put diesel in the van and thats crept up to around £1.15

Trumpet Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Where do you get your petrol from Exactly! I'm paying a good 6p more per litre than that!
ozleicester Posted 2 July 2009 Author Posted 2 July 2009 Just for everyones interest (or maybe not) the current price for a litre of unleaded here in OZ is $1.14, which equates to approx 54p i think. WOW Mind you the distance travlled here is much greater i assume?
Babylon Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Just for everyones interest (or maybe not) the current price for a litre of unleaded here in OZ is $1.14, which equates to approx 54p i think. Everything in England is more expensive... we get raped left right and centre.

Sir Fynwy then went on to explain we pay more because of tax, and made things worse. From what I could see in Sydney, things are pretty much comparable in pricing, apart from pubs, and as long as you're not drinking in London, or somewhere touristy or poncey, you may find going to the pub a bit cheaper. Unless Perth is cheaper than Sydney, then I could be wrong!
Anish Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Everything in England is more expensive... we get raped left right and centre. Not everything. Europe is particularly expensive now (I'm not talking about Eastern Europe mind) - and electrical items are actually a lot cheaper here than in Europe and in parts of Asia.
