Fox Genius Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Man that is one greasy Pole. My footer says it all, besides with Fosse, not only is it indiviual, but people from Leicester will be able to pronounce it properly...
Babylon Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 The whole thing was a bit of a pretence for the club to show that they cared about what fans thought. (if you ask me) Don't be so ridiculous, next you'll be telling me they pretended to give us the choice of what went on the front of our shirt.
Guest Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 I voted Fosse. We had changed our name once already, and so I had no qualms about that, but Fosse was something different, whereas other teams are City. Given the whole administration thing, the chance to change seemed appropriate to me, at the time. It's funny how sentimental people can be over a name.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 Didn't make it, but it would have been Fosse. Much better than another boring, City.

Well it's different to this or not as the case may be.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 Fosse is only 1 syllable so it isn't good for chants. Come on, use a bit of imagination. What's wrong with Fosse, Fosse--- Fosse, Fosse, Fosse?
Ultra Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 The fans were spot on. The years as Leicester Fosse were hardly a golden age for the club. The only event of any significance during this era was a 0-12 hiding off Forest. That was reason enough not to change the name back, whatever marketing scams had been lined up.
Neil_LCFC Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 I voted City as we had been called City all my life & since my first game in 78 or 79. Plus I would look a bit silly with a LCFC running fox tattoo when there was no such club !! thankfully sense prevailed.
Maybes Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 I went with City.Leicester Fosse does sound cooler though So did I. If they did it again though I think I would vote fosse.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Loads of team changed their names though out their history but we're been known as Leicester City since 1919. So i rather keep it as it is. I do like the sound of Leicester Fosse but i've always supported Leicester City. I voted city by the way
step Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 I dunno if this thrread has been done before, if so, can it ASAP Just wondering, we all must remember the day, against Wimbledon, when we had the cards to vote whether to stay as City, or go back to Leicester Fosse.. I know there was a smattering of Fossites (I have to say I wasn't one of them, I wanted City) But was there anyone who did want to go back to Fosse. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have been dead against it, but I just prefer contunuity, like the sad man I am. If anyone did vote F, why so? The question you should be asking is. How many voted against the name being changed to the Fosse, with out understsnding why marketing wanted it changed.
Jimmy Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 voted City at the time but looking back it would of been nice to have a more unique sounding name. for anyone interested, this is taken from the History of Leicester City F.C. from Wikipedia and explains why we changed it in the 1st place In 1919, when League football resumed after World War I, Leicester Fosse ceased trading due to financial difficulties of which little is known. The club was reformed as "Leicester City Football Club", particularly appropriate as the borough of Leicester had recently been given city status.
