Ask a direct question, you get a proper answer - no vagueness about players & you know from his manner that he has obviously told the players face to face his views, so isn't talking out of turn.

Fair enough & good to hear. Tonight's show came across as a bit of a love-in, that's all.

Having accomplished nothing so far in his City career, CL is embarking on a bit of PR for the sake of the fans.

A little harsh, don't you think? Bare in mind that Levein inherited a squad that by the admission of everyone wasn't up to the task. He's had virtually no money to spend, yet he's managed to pick out three excellent signings (as well as De Vries <_< ) . He would have loved to have dumped all the tat from our squad overnight, but financial restrictions (and transfer windows) have not allowed him to do this. Now it's the end of the season he's clearing out the ranks, reducing the wage bill and bringing in a load of young, hungry players.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying we will soar to the top next season but Levein's accomplishment in his first 6 months has been to set good foundations for the next few years. Our squad is young now (average age approx. 24) so we can only improve. I believe he's stopped the rot and prevented us from becoming the next Sheff Wed.

He could not have been expected to have achieved any more.

said we had a couple of promising youngsters - sheehan and stearman. no mention of dawson at all?!

There's a lot of good things said about Dawson in these forums, if he really is that good then CL would be sure to know about it.

Let's wait until Dawson has actually signed the contract offered to him, CL may be keeping quiet about Dawson for very good reason.

Maybe. I guess I'm not used to CL's more transparent manner with the press and fans when compared to some previous LCFC managers. No bad thing, for sure. Neither is getting on with the job of overhauling the squad ASAP.

I'm certainly happy to give CL time (into 06/07 or whatever). It's just as a fan of LCFC, I crave (and expect) disappointment. ;)

The one area where Levein has disappointed me, is that he hardly kept his promise blooding some of our youth prospects. Especially when we had nothing to play for in our last two games.

Apart from that he has had a promising end to the season, and hopefully he can get rid of the players he doesn't ant, and find some decent one's to bring in. Looking forward to getting surprised :)

Well, to be fair to him, he did say he'd only try out some yougsters after we were safe and as we only got the necessary points after the Derby game it only left 2 games in which to do this.

One of the games was the last home game of the season where the onus was, rightfully, on a win. The other game he gave Sheehan 90 mins, Stearman 30 mins or so and used the remaining subs more tactically.

I have a feeling that had CL brought on Dawson then he wouldn't be facing any criticism about not playing youngsters.

When he first came to the club he said his intention was to bring some homegrown players in to the team. I think we all thought that Levein would do this immediately and even though I think he could easily of tried a few of these youngsters instead of playing Gemmill, Heath, Makin, etc at times he's perhaps been sensible in holding them back. He is correct in saying, youngsters will fair better playing in a confident team than a team under-achieving and losing. Although having a successfull team isn't that easy and holding these youngsters back until we do is stupid and Sheehan and Stearman have proved that you can't tell if a player is ready for first team football until they are given a try. Both haven't looked out of place, infact Stearman has been the best player on the park in the 3 games he has started.

I'm optimistic every time I here Levein's plans, if he is adamant MDV will come good then i'll take his word. Levein isn't the sort of person to give out false praise and statements about players, so he must genuinly believe in Mark.

I liked the way he said Stearman is such a good footballer that he could play in numerous positions, but he will eventually play him at centre half when he's got abit more tougher. Great news.

As for Dawson, it's down to him to force Levein to play him. I can't see what more he's got to do, but if he eventually leaves and does the business elsewhere then we'll know who was in the wrong. I might hype him up, but trust me he's the best ball winning midfielder we've got.

Dawson is very good, but if I have a small criticism, its that in the 10 + times i've seen him he ca be a bit inconsistent.

At the tend of the day its down to the gaffer! Dawson Will get his chance, I believe that!
