Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I'm suitably impressed. I will allow him to stay. Levein, that is.
Durnerz Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 What a great man Levein is, so honest and no bullshitting the fans, brilliant!
jase67 Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 He talks good sense on the radio and I want to belive him but this blind faith in MDV troubles me. I agree when he says about the players who can leave as there not good enough for the Premiership but come on MDV can't play at this level let alone the Premiership.
Solihullfox Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 More than ever I am convinced this man knows exactly what he is doing. Everyone should should back Levein and his plans to put Leicester City back on the map. Trust the mans judgement and stop slagging De Vries (has not been properly fit since he has been at the club, give him pre-season and time at the beginning of next season) and start believing in Connolly who if given the right service will be a real menace. Looking forward to watching a footballing side next season, full of players with a bit of energy, confidence and a real desire to succeed. C'mon you City slickers.
Wellman Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Lets get the chant going next year of... It's just like watching Brazil! Oh those were the days :D

Lenny Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Levein was excellent. Very honest. I thought the point about Crewe and West ham was well made. Basically, producing great young players like Gradi and Redknap did. Sorry to see Tommy and Matt on their way. Can we afford Douglas or taylor. Levein obvisouly rates kisnorbo
Teeno Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 CL exact words to describe Kisnarbo to me last week were "you'll love Kisnarbo, he's played for me the last couple of years and he's absoloutly class." Not very often managers put pressure on players before the join the club, he must feel confident that he's the bizz. He said he will be the new Lennon of the club and could be the difference between a great and average season. Craig feels that with bringing him in he has sorted out one of major problems. When we are on the ball we are class, its just winning the ball and getting in posession which Kisnarbo will do for us.

Louise Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 Sounds like Heath, Canero and Wright as going to be shown the door as predicted (and I imagine they won't be the only ones). - And didn't I say someone would ask about them! - CL gave a good account of himself as always on the radio, a lot of the things he was saying proves he has a real football brain (he sounded like a supporter when talking about player attributes ) Micky would always be quite vague about the the best and worst aspects of a player but CL doesn't pretend a player doesn't have faults. Maybe its just a case of him not talking down, as so many managers do to their fans. The interview made me look forward to next season more definitely. My only gripes, what was with those presenters? One obviously wasn't a Leicester fan and the other (Mr Sinclair) seemed terrified of CL. Deary me.
funnkyh Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 bit disappointed heath sounds like hes on his way out to be honest. Know he isnt good enough to play premiership but we wont get much/any money for him so would have liked to have seen him kept as back up for one more season. mainly due to no nikos(not syaing thats a bad thing) and limited funds to replace him with someone a lot better- specially considering we need a keeper and prob a leftsided player. Think heath would have been a good squad player - the bloke loves the club, got a few goals early on in the season. Im not saying he should be first choice but being city we r bound to pick up suspensions and injuries and may well need the cover at some point. ah well hes not gone yet tho only a matter of time before micky snaps him up i suppose! did he mention joey at all, along with heath wright and canero think he is probably one of the more likely still in contract players on the way out? otherwise sounds great, couldnt get the internet link to work but from other peoples comments sounds like CL knows the squad and the club and where he is going with it. Hopefully wont be too long before we r back in the prem

Shum Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I listened to most of it on the way to football tonight, and the man was brutally honest and I fully respect him for that. Looks like Heath, Wright et al will all be off. Now if he thinks they are not good enough then lets get rid, trim the wage bill and get someone else in. I think CL will do wonders for this club, if given the time, if people are patient etc. Such a breath of fresh air a manager being honest unlike MA for example who would have fall outs with players and keep it private for example. Grat stuff CL
Anish Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 I really don't want to put a downer on things, but I think we need to step back and get some perspective. Yes Levein was so honest, open, and up front about his plans for the team and the situation regarding individual players today. I admire his honestly and respect him for being straight with the fans, which is something that is a rare quality in football managers these days. I fully support his decisions regarding the release of certain players, and can see why he made such decisions. However... People seem to get carried away with everything. When Levein speaks he speaks a fantastic game, there's no doubt about it. Having said that, it's one thing to talk the talk, but it's completely another to actually walk the walk. I think when people say he can do wonders for the club and such like they are getting ahead of themselves. He has still to prove himself (he hasn't covered himself in glory this season remember?) and this can only be done by getting good performances and good results on the pitch, not in interviews with the press. I am all in favour of Levein but just want to point out that, just like when he was appointed manager of LCFC, a lot of people are jumping the gun a bit following this interview.

Having accomplished nothing so far in his City career, CL is embarking on a bit of PR for the sake of the fans. From what I've picked up, he's been very open with opinions about some of his playing staff. Hopefully he'll have told Heath and Wright that they are not good enough to their faces before broadcasting his thoughts to 000's? I just get the feeling he's still not got to grips with the size of platform that he's on since leaving Hearts. He'd do well to keep his cards close to his chest and let the footie do the talking.
Foxes_Trust Posted 9 May 2005 Posted 9 May 2005 How he was on the phone in tonight was exactly the same as he was at the Q & A session at the Trust AGM. Ask a direct question, you get a proper answer - no vagueness about players & you know from his manner that he has obviously told the players face to face his views, so isn't talking out of turn. He obviously won't reveal transfer targets for fear of alerting others, but he is keen to sort things quickly & not at the last minute, so we may see some movments in soon
