Foxes Player

Does anyone have/subscribe to Foxes player (what was World)? Can they tell me if it's worth it? Considering BBC doing highlights and that this season is it worth 40 smackers a year to ?

In particular, anyone got it who cant get to many citoh games and find it useful?

I haven't subscribed to Foxes Player as I think you can get all the info elsewhere living in Leicester. I have subscribed to Cherry Player (Bournemouth) and its definitely not worth it! Minimal content, crap interviews etc. Now the Beeb are doing the League show after MOTD I think you'll get all you need, but don't let me put you off.

I'm tempted to subscribe this year for the commentary alone - now that the Match Console site doesn't work.

as someone not living in Leicester it's a must for me for the match commentary as I can't get radio leicester.

as for the other stuff it's basically rubbish don't really bother with anything and now you can see the goals on the BBC Website it's even more pointless!!

if you are in Leicester and can get the radio it's probably not worth the money

Some people said yesterday that it is possible to get an aerial so that you can listen to BBC Radio Leicester from anywhere. Is this right and if so, how do I go about getting one? I would rather do that and always be able to listen to the games rather than pay £30 odd quid per year just to be able to listen to my bloody football team play!!

If that's true, i'd imagine it'd be one big ass aerial that wouldn't be cheap!

I really would say that it isn't worth it unless you are unable to get commentary in any other ways.

Now this season, everywhere has the highlights, the BBC, SKY, and Virgin, and all are available to watch at anytime on the sites as well as on TV.

Also felt that recently every time there is an interview on the Player it just gets played on the Football Forum later on, so again I would think it is pointless in its use.

And one more thing unlike World you can no longer download any video on it.

I have had World/Player twice now, once in February, free for the month and only listened to one match as went to all the others. Whilst I currently have it now but am unsubscribing tomorrow as that is when my payment for 4 months of £4.99 runs out and if I don't unsubscribe I will be paying £45.99 for the whole of the season!

I will just have to go back to the old fashioned way of going outside and sitting in the van and just about getting 104.9 here in Peterborough, or I will just set up the big old radio again and get a bloody awful signal!

Seriously though, to get value for money, you would really have to have the disadvantage of not going to many matches at all as the commentary is the only thing that is good IMO.

If there is still the one month free option like I had on World I would go for that and try it.

Yeah it is only worth getting if you can't get too quite a few of the games. Most of the interviews are either not worth listening to or appear on Radio Leicester within a day. Don't even think about getting it if you live in Leicester.

For foxiles or people living outside Leicester(shire), it's definitely worth it. I, for example, cannot get the BBC features, including the BBC iPlayer, working, as they're UK only.

I wish I could get video features from the actual matches or video replays on the (Foxes) Player, but for now, with davieG's help, I'm all good.

From a financial point of view, it's not THAT expensive with 40 quid for 52 weeks of action.

If you cannot get to the games and are too far away to receive radio Leicester then it is worth it for the commentary alone. There is nothing worse than trying to follow the game on FT.

I expect to get to around half the games this season, if I listen to the rest on player it will cost about £1 a game. When I am at home in Spain it is even more worthwhile.

Fair enough I think.

IT'S SHIT****

WORLD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>PLAYER

Sorry, I was fuming when this pile of crap arrived. you can no longer download clips, it is hard to navigate, it lists the news stories rather than the clips alone. Plus the media people at Leicester dont seem to care about it anymore, and dont update it very often.

I canned it a couple of weeks ago. I got it to download extended highlights of games, like they did last season.

Balls to them if they are having another penny off of me.

**** It's not shit if you want to listen to the commentary (outside Leicestershire) or if you want to watch the goals (outside GB) in fact it's probably a godsend.

My thoughts exactly. I was fuming too. I also find that the bit the video plays in isn't big enough for the viseo so you have to keep scrolling up and down!

Its only worthwhile if you are non-Leicester based.

What a piece of shit this thing is!

It is screwing me over now. Tomorrow the subscription runs out and I dont fancy paying £40 odd for the rest of the season so I unsubscribe fill in the boxes and then says thank-you, but I am still logged in!

Arrrrrrrrggggggghhhhh. It won't let me do it!

Just cancel the DirectDebit via your banks website (I did that on Alliance&Leicester)

I screwed them over when I first got it. Subscribed in like September 08, but it wasn't until like February 09 that they realised my Debit details were wrong, so they cut my account, I resubscribed and got a month free, so I only paid for like 3 months. :)

As I live outside of leicestershire I put down 3.99 for a months worth. For me its worth it for the match commentary. Also you can also log on to other sites using your user name and password. Someone put up a link on the Bentleys board for expats to be able to watch the British TV stations. I was a bit wary at first about downloading the software but it runs a treat and after watching Match of the day and the championship yesterday its great value at being free. Anyway the address is www.filmon.com
