People keep mentioning Celtic's finances, I don't quite understand how they aren't better off than they are. They have a huge stadium, and have been in the Champions League the last few years. They can't exactly have a hue wage bill so why don't they have more money?

They don't get much TV money I guess and then I reckon they are paying a lot in wages just to entice players up there!

they've just been put back on sky

so they'll be making more money from that than previous seasons

Not so sure, I know they were on quite a bit through the Setanta deal and they werent getting anything near that with the new deal - there was talk at some point that they would get their own deals but went with the Sky one in the end.

Felt gutted for Fulham. They only had to hold on for a minute. Oh well still a good result considering they went down to ten men and it could have easily been 2-1 if that penalty had not been saved.

Referee had a mare though regarding the penalty/sending off decision.

The SPL clubs are making far less off Sky and ESPN than they were off Setanta.

It will be a while before either Rangers or Celtic can compete successfully in Europe again.

I went to see Valencia v Slavia Prague last night.

Mestella is pretty awesome stadium, and the football was really good.

Anyway the reason for my post is that there were 5 officials on the pitch. Two linesmen, one ref and two guys who stood in opposite corners, actually on the pitch (not next to the linesmen). Someone said they were for goal line decisions. I was wondering if this is going on at all Europa League games?

They are using the Europa League to trial the system.

Not for much longer if they keep making cock ups like they did at Fulham last night. lol

Fulham 1-0 up in Rome. 2,000 travelling fans aswell, good effort.

Excellent stuff. Roy Hodgson has done so well with them, future England manager after Capello maybe?

As for the other game tonight, this football blog on the Europa League emphasises how Everton really do have their work cut out. He does point out that Benfica lost at the weekend though, so they are beatable. Hopefully Everton will get an early goal and build on it.

I do find it hard to care about this competition at this stage though. The Champions League teams will be coming in before long and they are bound to be the favourites!

Although Fulham could suprise a few people by the looks of thing!

Celtic can progress from that group.
I'd actually be willing to place a bet on Celtic winning that group.

lol

Shame they can't do it in the league.

I like Fulham, decent club showing that smaller clubs can compete in the PL and are an ideal role model to smaller teams.

What the hell is up with Roma though, the stadium looks empty and there is no atmosphere?
