Koke Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 I agree with Thracian. Campbell's pace was electric and we gonna need that. He offers us a different dimension. I actually hope he gets a chance to start sometime.

Guest Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 I think I saw Bluefoxtim in L.We should play "Spot the FTer". It is more fun, most of the time..... No denial!
Anish Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Did not go last night, so cannot in all honesty comment on the details of the game, so a few general points.First half sounded very much like what I saw on saturday, particularly the second half. With the change in personnel the backline remained solid if uninspired, still too much 'hoof'. The midfield is lopsided and disjointed. Oakley and Wellens seen to be playing to instructions so complex that they have forgotten the basics of the game. Dyer was easily our most potent attacker, despite the (quite un-necessary) defensive duties piled on him. Howard and Fryatt were once again totally ineffective, neither of them have any pace and neither 'show' for balls played in on the floor. For a team trying to develop a passing game this is complete nonsense. Second half brought the Gallagher substitution. Hopelessly wrong in concept, it, and the injection of some energy, got us the penalty. Fryatt fluffed it, Gallagher got away with encroachment and we are 1 up. It got really interesting when Pearson got permission from which ever deity looks after useless strikers, to sub off Howard and Fryatt and bring on some pace. Although obviously not wingers, Waghorn and DJ stretched Palace side to side and front to back, all orchestrated by an increasingly confident Gallagher who came in off the left flank and played all across our front line. The goal was a peach and shows a degree of awareness that we really need. I know I have said this a dozen times over the last few weeks but Gallagher is a center forward, not wide player or a midfielder. Admittedly he is not a speed merchant playing on the last man but he is a skillful, thoughtful player who makes things happen and brings his team mates into the game. Flank him with pace, as was the case in the last half hour and things will get really interesting! Come on NP, you have had a glimpse at the future, time to grab it with both hands! I think you need to look up the word 'general' in the dictionary. I don't know how you can make any of those statements I have highlighted from simply listening to the radio. I listened to the commentary too but wouldn't ever comment on the game like you just have.

I don't know how you can make any of those statements I have highlighted from simply listening to the radio. I listened to the commentary too but wouldn't ever comment on the game like you just have. Your choice. As I clearly said I was basing my views on the commentary and what I saw on saturday. That is why I made few comments about individual performances, other than the totally obvious that we all saw last night and on saturday. Is there a problem?
The Doctor Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 How many one on ones has Fryatt missed since hes been here? Is he not a proper goalscorer? Just because its DJ he gets slated for missing one. If that had been Matty no one would be talking about it today. I didnt feel sorry for Fryatt last night HE was poor. TBH he was always gonna miss that chance, after all because of injury and being out of favour he's played all of about 25 first team games in the past 2 years.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 I thought Paddy McCarthy was excellent on the night, apart from his distribution. Had Steve Howard in his back pocket, a real commanding presence, definitely matured as a player since leaving us.
