StanSP Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Struggling Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid have parted company with their coach Abel Resino. The La Liga side made the statement on its website on Friday, two days after a 4-0 Champions League defeat at Chelsea. Atletico have only one point from three games and lie bottom of Group D, while a poor start to their La Liga campaign has left them languishing in 15th. The 49-year-old took over as coach at the Vicente Calderon in February after the dismissal of Javier Aguirre. Resino left his post at Second Division side Castellon to take over at Atletico and a run of eight wins in their last nine games last season earned them a place in the Champions League. But Los Colchoneros have won only one of their last seven league games and are one point above the relegation zone. Spanish sports newspaper Marca said on Thursday that Resino would be replaced by Denmark's Michael Laudrup. From BBC.
shen Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Laudrup already declined yesterday. Apparently he's set his sights on Villarreal...
Ozwin Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 I hope Villarreal get out of their slump. They're a well likeable side.
Bilo Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 I hope Villarreal get out of their slump. They're a well likeable side. That they are. They give hope to smaller clubs across Europe that they can emulate their achievements. Would love for us to even come close to their achievements of the past 10 years.

The Doctor Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Why doesn't thracian apply and show the world his undoubtable managerial talent as well as showcasing the worldbeating ability of Louis Dodds?
AjcW Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Why doesn't thracian apply and show the world his undoubtable managerial talent as well as showcasing the worldbeating ability of Louis Dodds? Louis Dodds could probably do a better job than the crack heads in the atletico defence. Oh and im saying Arigones or Schuster.... Because well I know everything about spain
