cono Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 wich one would you of prefered in the leicester team? i ask this because bent wanted to stay on with leicester before he moved to everton, but micky adams said we can't afford him. so then micky goes and buys conolly for 500,000. and ipswich wanted 500,000 for bent. their wages were about the same aswell.
robhulse4england Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 id take connolly when hes on form hes exellent. Bent never did anything when he was not on the ball
Benji Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Bent one of the best strikers i've seen in a blue shirt over the past few seasons, a true delight to watch play
shen Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 wich one would you of prefered in the leicester team?i ask this because bent wanted to stay on with leicester before he moved to everton, but micky adams said we can't afford him. so then micky goes and buys conolly for 500,000. and ipswich wanted 500,000 for bent. their wages were about the same aswell. 106724 Didn't Everton come in for him on the 11th hour? I think Micky tried as hard as he could, and he probably expected to retain Dickov and Thatcher as well. It was a good choice for Bent though, I think the guy has gotten unfair stick earlier in his career, so I'm glad he's had some success with Everton.
Muz Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Micky tried to get him on loan again , but he rejected because he wanted go to a club permanently. Id choose Marcus Bent over Connolly any day of the week.
Phil Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 wich one would you of prefered in the leicester team?i ask this because bent wanted to stay on with leicester before he moved to everton, but micky adams said we can't afford him. so then micky goes and buys conolly for 500,000. and ipswich wanted 500,000 for bent. their wages were about the same aswell. 106724 he went for 375k in the end.
Scow Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Bent offers much more than Connolly. I was gutted when we lost out on the deal, but I'm happy he's done so well at Everton. He'll be playing Champions League football next season.
filbertway Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 I'd have marcus bent over, david connolly any day of the week , scowy and MDV all in the same squad. He's one of the most skillful players ive seen at leicester. Not that i ve seen many.
filbertway Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 I'd have bent over connolly 106843 106848 What, what
Stuliasz Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 I distinctly remember mad biker saying that we had practically signed Bent, but as was previously mentioned Everton came in with a last minute bid and obviously he decided to chose them. It was nothing to do with money.
Knighton Matt Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 I'd have bent over connolly 106843 106848 kinky! but what about dickov?
Anish Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Definitely Bent. What a tremendous player he was, so quick and skillful and some of his goals were a delight. Those goals against Bolton and Charlton were magnificent.
Leicesterboi Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Tough one but id go for bent. he had more of an arial presence, was quicker and could play on the wing when needed. however connoly is a better finisher.
TrickyTrev Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Marcus Bent! A prooven premiership player. Micky did try and get him and Marcus was already to sign until Everton came in at the 11th hour and offered him first team football in the premiership. Definately not Micky Adams' fault.
Durnerz Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Marcus Bent, Hes got the lot, just needed to be a bit more clinical in front of goal, lightening pace though and tremendoes aerial ability.
Chimp Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 They both have a lot to offer, however, given the choice I would go for Marcus... he's always more willing to take on defenders and from what I remember always seemed relatively confident and confortable even when he wasn't scoring.
Hullfox Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Bent hasn't scored in 18 games. That's a quality that would have seen us relegated. Connoly for me.
Scow Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Bent hasn't scored in 18 games. That's a quality that would have seen us relegated. Connoly for me. 107168 Beattie has only scored 1 in 11 - The same game Bent scored in, which was 13 games ago...
