Part Of The Crowd Posted 22 November 2009 Posted 22 November 2009 yeah, well early days, give it time and keep supporting online musicians (see sig ) Still makes this decade a bit crap. I hope the teens are better and musicians get recognised when they deserve it.

Funny, I think this decade has thrown up a huge amount of original and innovative music. Music is on an upwards spiral in comparison to the black hole of the 80's and 90's

Music is on an upwards spiral in comparison to the black hole of the 80's and 90's I loved the 90's, but this decade has had no 'Wow' bands if you know what I mean. There have been great obscure bands but nothing that's going to change music like bands from other decades have. We've had no Led Zep's or Iron Maiden's

But I very much disagree that nothing's going to change music. It has, it is currently doing and it will continue do so. Just because a lot of great music isn't reaching the mainstream, doesn't mean music isn't changing away from it. I doubt you'll find many musicians who have limited their influences to mainstream acts ...

I love a good bit of Iron Maiden me However, people that listen to the music away from the mainstream are few and far between, hence it isn't mainstream. Most people listen to a load of crap that's been done before which is a shame.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Well it's not the listeners that are changing the music, but the musicians Yeah but if nobody can hear the music then it's not going to end up influencing anybody.
shen Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Yeah but if nobody can hear the music then it's not going to end up influencing anybody. Well that's not a valid point since anyone can easily find ways of listening to such music, the internet being the prime source and example. Those that happily gobble up anything that passes on the radio aren't the ones that will influence music.

Those that happily gobble up anything that passes on the radio aren't the ones that will influence music. People can but it's getting harder and harder to get to. It used to be everywhere and now you have to actively search to find them, if you don't know about them it's pretty difficult to find out.

Most people listen to a load of crap that's been done before which is a shame. let those who want main stream listen to their mainstream, as long as i can stumble upon music that excites me like never before, then i'm happy... perhaps your problem is more the genre that you are clearly most interested in, perhaps those sorts of bands aren't so well represented online, i don't know about that, but i do know that for the first time in years i'm actually listening to young bands again, and *gasp* even buying the odd CD, and buying online straight from the labels...
Daggers Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 I blame internet porn. It's now easier to find a picture of a woman resembling Britney Spears being taken up the arse by seven men than it is to write a good song on the guitar. And quicker. Everything shit is the fault of internet porn.
