The playing budget has been cut by £5m it has previously been stated, the budget includes wages & fees. £1m on transfer fees won't be spent, unless we sell someone for a significant fee. From CL's comments, you would imagine Wright & Heath will go, but can't see that raising even £250k in total.

No-one would dare trust us with any set of figures.
dog_4 Posted 11 May 2005 Author Posted 11 May 2005 actually just been stated that wages will be slashed by 5 million. 1 million shud be the budget seeing that we spent that much when we had a much higher wage bill. cut that down by 5 million i don't see why the board wudn't say here is 1 million to spend see that levein has chopped the wages down by 5 million
Louise Posted 11 May 2005 Posted 11 May 2005 Being cut by 5 million doesn't mean we suddenly have 5 million to spend, it means we have 5 million less to spend than last year so we had to get rid of players!

If we fail to gain promotion, then we would plunge deeper into debt, if those players had stayed. We're not taking any risks, hence why the budget is being cut now. I would asssume CL will have somewhere between £500k-1mil to wheel and deal with..
MADLEVEIN Posted 12 May 2005 Posted 12 May 2005 i can see magnier being pushed out of man utd and plump for leicester in stead and give us 80 million to spend
Babylon Posted 12 May 2005 Posted 12 May 2005 Last years budget was about 10 million, cut that by 5 mil and obviously have 5million budget this year. What levein does with that is up to him. He could have 11 players on about 10k a week or 20 players on 5k a week. Obviously we are more likely to have 20 players, some on less than 5k and some on more. So the chances of him having anything more than a couple of hundred grand to spend is very slight. The 1 mil adams spent last year came from the fact we budgeted to finish bottom of the premier. We obviously finish a couple of places higher earning us the extra 1mil.
Ric Flair Posted 12 May 2005 Posted 12 May 2005 It's obvious this club is being very cautious and fair play to them. If we gambled on getting up this season by throwing money at it, we could be seriously buggered. But we will still have a bigger transfer/wage budget than 19/20 teams in this league so we should still be able to get up the top without throwing money at it. Levein seems more willing to sign players for money than Adams did, i.e. £100/200,000 which can get you some quality young players for this league ala Hughes and McCarthy. I think we will easily be able to sign 3 or 4 bosmans and 2 players for a few hundred thousand each.
