Wolves asked to explain team selection

It wasnt a weak team, it had 8 regular first teams players, 1 £2m sub who started this season by helping knock out Villa in the Europa League, A player who cost £1.1m and started for the first team against Chelsea. It was only George Friend who was not normally involved in the first team.

But look who has slated us in the press tonight for damaging ‘the international credibility of the Premier League’ and handing Manchester United an unfair advantage by sending out a team of reserves at Old Trafford?

Don't bother about it - this is the same manager who once put out a second-string side for a cup final (back in the days when he was able to reach one...lol)

While what McCarthy did may be questionable from an ethical point of view, it's no different to what Neil Warnock did when Sheff Utd went to Old Trafford - or what many other managers have done on various occasions in recent years.

The PL may bark - but I'd be surprised to see it bite.

Wenger on the radio this morning crying about it.... weve had to play 3 games in 6 days boo hoo hoo, we have to play 38 games in a season not 37 boo hoo hoo.

If its that much of a problem Wenger, get yourselves relegated to the CCC, drop out of the Champions League and let someone else compete in them if you cant manage it... tosser!

Mick got it spot on. Was a massive over reaction from the fans and others making a meal of it.

I wonder if those fans fans are still wanting Mick out? I somehow highly doubt it.

Fickle football fans

Why did he?, who knows what a full strength squad could of got against a misfiring utd, and the chances are they would have beaten Burnley anyway, they're terrible away from home.

Misfiring United :crylaugh:

Two defeats and now their misfiring United.

Wolves wouldn't have walked away from Old Trafford with any points. He's kept the squad harmony in tact and not taken any risks. Nothing wrong with that coupled with a win today using rested players

5 losses in 18 premier league games is most definitely misfiring for a club like United.

They certainly dont look as good as previous seasons, already lost more games this season than last, but anyone who states now his decision to rest players is justified must be able to predict the future...or past. :giggle:

Still second in the league, and I think they finished top of their CL group. Hardly misfiring.

Isn't that what your doing above? Predicting what would have happened if he'd played a full strength team?

At the end of the day we both disagree and no one will know what would've happened but at least I give explanation and reason whereas your just boldly predicting.

No I'm stating who knows what they would have done so you cant say either way...THATS MY POINT!

But the fact is with hindsight it looks like Mick got it spot on which you disagreed with but have failed to give a good reason why apart from a "mis firing United team".

I still think Wolves hadn't a chance in hell with walking away with any points and by playing a reserve side, has kept his side fresh for Burnley and got a very important win. ... THATS MY POINT! :)

But you cant say that, as you dont know. I repeat THATS MY POINT!

Fulham took points from Manure... really did anyone expect them to? NO!

A similar thing COULD have occurred for Wolves at Old Trafford.. except that McCarthy GAVE UP before he started.

It is a sad view indictment on Mc Carthy's belief in his team, that he did not believe they were good enough to beat (or at least match) manure.

IMO its quite simple... you put the best side out every week and you try your damdest to win every game!!

I expected Fulham to get something from a Yanited team with fuck all defense, aswell as Fulham being pretty tough to beat at home.

So did I, partly because they beat them last season, theyre starting to become the new Man U bogey team.

One of my relatives does the pitch at Fulham and a certain scottish manager did not want that game to go ahead on Saturday, insisting the pitch wasnt playable but the ref wasnt having any of it.

Sorry for ressurecting this but was discussing this with a mate today. 2 points.

1) Looks like Wolves are going to stay up. Ok, so maybe they would have still stayed up regardless of resting players / winning against Burnley but at least next season they might be in a position to take Man U on at OT?

2) If we got promoted next season, how would you feel if NP did the same thing? I'd be OK with it providing it was a complete one-off.
