Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 What's Jelle Van Klaasen doing these days?I remember him winning this comp (?) a few years ago and then haven't heard much since. He moved to the PeeDeeCee, not exactly pulled up many trees since he went with Van Gerwen and Barney. I watched the last set of that Woods-Wagner game on interactive in the wee small hours, I was utterly gripped by it, just a brilliant match. People may slate the BDO, but it's only in the early rounds when matches aren't competitive, which is exactly the same as the early rounds of the PDC is it not? (A la whitewash by Taylor) It's gripping in its own way. I don't think anyone pretends that the BDO is anywhere near the level of the PDC, but that doesn't mean it can't be as dramatic or as entertaining. And at least the crowd aren't drunkard, middle-ages yobbos like in PDC. And the overuse of the blonde thick models in the Barry Herne version of darts is a bit crap too. BDO is simple as opposed to the unessecary glamour and glitz of the PDC, and that's what makes it so special. Lakeside>Ally Pally for me.

It always bugs me that people who slate the BDO never actually watch it. The quality is better than people think too, apart from the PDC top 3 (Taylor, Barney, Wade), I don't think there is the chasm of difference people make out. For instance Stephen Bunting got as many 180s as Phil Taylor did in the PDC final yet Bunting still got beat 4-0 by O'Shea. Dave Chisnall's averages so far would test everyone in the PDC. And even if the quality isn't that brilliant at times, you still get superb matches like Woods-Wagner.

Im a PDC man 100% but i have give the BDO a chance this year and i am quite enjoying it. Think Lakeside lacks the atmosphere of the Ali Pali and the Circus tavern but like i say i am enjoying it and just getting to know some of the players. Ted Hankey would certainly be in the top reaches of the PDC rankings

maddog Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 Did anyone see the Aussie totally crumble against Adams He scored 5 on one of his throws, 1, 1 and treble 1
StanSP Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 Did anyone see the Aussie totally crumble against Adams He scored 5 on one of his throws, 1, 1 and treble 1 Nah, think we missed it. I just saw on BBC a snippet of Anthony Fleet's shaky performance. Why was he so nervous ? Because the lakeside is the home of darts, its the equivalent (on a smaller scale obviously but nevertheless) of a football player playing at Wembley for the first time. And he was playing Martin Adams, the most experienced Lakeside campaigner in history. I've just googled it and seen it on Youtube, via a very poor picture quality. You're right, he was frigging terrible. Felt sorry for him. That said, I'm sure Phil Taylor will be shaking in his boots at Martin Adams 26 darter in the said leg I felt sorry for him but it was quite funny when he dropped his dart a few times trying to catch it and it kept bouncing away! And I laughed whenhe hit double 1 going for treble 20. He must of been shitting cos he's quite a good player normally I think. Think they said him and his partner are world pairs champions
BoneDog Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 This Deta Hedman lady is frickin good at darts. Hope she wins this match. Only seen her once before.
BoneDog Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 Incredible stuff this match. If only Chisnall hit the double for the 4th set. Would of been 4-3 now. Future star is Chisnall
isaidno Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 What a match ! , Chisnell looked out at 4-1 down , amazing comeback
BoneDog Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 What a match ! , Chisnell looked out at 4-1 down , amazing comeback He did. The first few sets was the worst he's played all tournament even though he had a chance to make it 2-2 in sets. He had a few unlucky bounce outs too. But after the break he was awesome! That match was so exciting I was all over the livin room. Was that 121 average for Chisnall in a whole set or just 1 leg I can't remember now? Think it might have been his average in the 6th set.

It was his 6th set average, came from nowhere. He was averaging about 80 before. Hope he wins the title now
BoneDog Posted 7 January 2010 Posted 7 January 2010 It was his 6th set average, came from nowhere. He was averaging about 80 before. Hope he wins the title now Aye I'm supporting him aswell! On a separate note - Women!! This woman called Edwards in the semi-final is using her husbands darts cos she forgot to bring hers! How the hell can you forget your darts when you are in a world semi-final?!
dandannieldanok Posted 8 January 2010 Posted 8 January 2010 Just seen the highlights on BBC2, Chisnall's comeback was brilliant, great entertainment.
StanSP Posted 8 January 2010 Posted 8 January 2010 Chisnall's performance !! Awesome stuff especially from 4-1 down too. Wagner didn't look great against O'Shea either.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 January 2010 Posted 8 January 2010 Martin Phillips is thrashing Scott Waites atm, shock on the cards.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 8 January 2010 Posted 8 January 2010 Phillips is doing brilliantly, all credit to him, though as I type Waites is starting to get his act together!
dandannieldanok Posted 9 January 2010 Posted 9 January 2010 Two cracking semi-finals in prospect, Chisnall-O'Shea should be nip and tuck. Adams-Phillips should be close too if Phillips can keep up his good form.

Adams-Phillips should be close too if Phillips can keep up his good form. I'm gonna stick my neck out and say the winner of the tournament will be the victor from the Chisnall-O'Shea semi-final. I just don't think Phillips and Adams have the consistency, but it'll be a good watch!
CosbehFox Posted 9 January 2010 Posted 9 January 2010 That was as good as darts get regardless of association. That final set and the last two checkouts!!
dandannieldanok Posted 9 January 2010 Posted 9 January 2010 Chisnall was superb, can't see either Phillips or Adams being good enough to beat him on that form. EDIT: Spoke too soon, Adams averaging 100+ here, found his form.
Jimothy Posted 9 January 2010 Posted 9 January 2010 My Mum's just rang me, she's oddly watching the darts. Anyway apparently Martin Adams' son is in the crowd wearing a Leicester Tigers shirt. I know he's a Londoner, but has he got any connection with Leicester? Or is his son just the rugby version of a glory supporter?
