davieG Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 OS Leicester City and Sunderland have today (Tuesday) agreed to extend Martyn Waghorn's loan move, which will see him play for the Foxes until the end of the season. The news of Waghorn's extended stay at the Walkers Stadium will be pleasing for the fans who have taken to the striker, since his arrival in the summer. On securing the Martyn's services until the end of the season, Nigel Pearson said: "We have agreed to extend it for the rest of the season and that will be when the current loan deal expires. "It will be with the same criteria as the original loan, because it is a youth loan and it gives Sunderland a 24-hour recall option. I would rather have the player available than not." "He is enjoying it here and we are delighted to have him. Sunderland have been on the scouting list for a lot of our games." "For a player of his age from a Premiership club this is a good experience for him. Both clubs benefit because he is getting vital experience and we have the services of a player who has a lot of potential." Waghorn, currently suspended from his red card against Bristol City, has scored five goals for the Foxes so far this season.

It better be up to and including the play-off final Otherwise, very good news. Would have been a huge hinderance to have lost a key striker, and try and get a new one bedded in mid-season.
Katy Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Splendid news, absolutely love Waggy. He could be vital, particularly if we lose Fryatt.
Hitesh Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Good Good! Just hope Sunderland don't be annoying and call him back to keep the bench warm!
Candidcamera Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Well pleased - let's hope we can sign him up in the Summer.

Corky Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Good news. Adds much-needed pace up front and was showing some form before his suspension.
StanSP Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Transfer window starts with some good news then . Hope that it continues and Fryatt doesn't leave!
