Pearson vows to sign Foxes deal

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has given club chairman Milan Mandaric his word that he will sign a new contract at the end of the season.

City opened talks with Pearson over an extended deal towards the end of last year but negotiations have been placed on the backburner until the end of the season while the 46-year-old focuses on the club's play-off challenge.

"He is a good solid man and his contract with me is a handshake as far as I am concerned because I trust him completely," Mandaric told the Leicester Mercury.

"If you knew the man as much as I know him then you would feel very comfortable as far as that goes. But as far as the paperwork is concerned, it will be sorted out."

Mandaric added: "We have a very good relationship professionally and I like him as a man away from football because of his character. He would be an asset to any club, but thankfully he is with Leicester City."

Pearson has 18 months remaining on his current contract at the Walkers Stadium.

I'm quite sure Nigel Pearson will do what he sees as best for his own career when the time comes. Situations change both for better or worse.

And sometimes opportunities come along that are all but impossible to resist.

If I were in Mandaric's position I'd always have a contingency plan B and C.

But then I don't really do trust.

I cant even begin to list the number of managers who have left, or been sacked whilst still under contract over the past 3 years (geez, its gotta be 5 at Leicester alone!!!).

A contract is really just a cashpoint for either signatory, depending on who wants out.

Whilst NP appears the gentleman and MM trusts him, if a golden opportunity were to present itself, its a fair guess he would snap it up.. as we all would.

I agree with you, I don't think he will be here for to much longer.

I really hope he stays or we'll end up in the doldrums of football again...

:giggle:

I hardly think so but our squad is certainly better with him than without him.
