Wouldn't be the biggest surprise ever as he's hardly figured in the end of season run in, and the consensus seems to be that this was a Championship season too far for him. He might do a job for you in League One though, and I understand he was raised in Peterborough so may fancy it. Heard anything about Craig Mackail-Smith?

Think we've rejected all bids for mackail-smith and u plus 5 other championship teams were after him from what i heard. Only big player we are looking to possibly get rid of is Boyd as he has stated he will not sign a new contract with us, so best cash in now than to lose him for a free enxt summer

Anyone else heard anything? I think Oakley will get transferred this summer. He can't handle The Championship, and was our weakest link whenever he played.

Anyone else heard anything? hope it's true. Got nothing against Oakley at all, but that is a ridiculous price really considering his age and lack of football since Jan/Feb.

Exactly what I was thinking, Isn't that about what we paid for him? good business if true. Think he'd do alright in League One, not much use in the Championship anymore, too many games passed him by.

Why would a player as good as Makail Smith want to play in League 1 again? Oakley would be fine in League 1. A slower pace, more time on the ball, not as competitive.
Flynny Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Anything above 250k would be good business, getting the wages alone off our books would be a plus. 500k would be fantastic but it's not an unbelievable sum considering Peterborough tend to spend when they want to.

Made amends for being part of the squad that got relegated to League One by captaining us to promotion back to the Championship. Hs best years are clearly behind him and i wouldn't be too disappointed to see him leave which is more than likely to happen (and not for 500K ) Don't understand anyone slagging him off, he'd leave with my thanks for his contribution and best wishes for the future.

Remember, Oakley was signed at a time when Milan was looking for a quick-fire route into the premiership. Things are different now. Im sure if any club came in and offered to take Oakleys wages off our hands, Milan and Pearson would agree. He wasnt a first team player come the end of the season, and definately wont be next season.
