2010/11 Pre-season Friendlies

Pretty sure the prices on the Oxford site say this:

On the day tickets

Oxford mail stand - adult £14

All other stands - adults £16

Students with NUS card pay £12 in all stands

Over 65 pay £8

Under 16's pay £5

Think thats what it is anyway. Depends on whether they are the same for away fans though. That whole page on the site is about offers for both the LCFC match and the Man Utd match they have.

sigh, yet another away friendly with outrage ticket prices, was hoping to to go this but after seeing the prices - no thanks!

How can these clubs justify charging those prices?

It doesnt make sense

and to think i paid something stupid like 13 euros to watch Bayern Munich win the Bundesliga title 2 months ago

Football in this country is a joke

If you trust their booking office and book in advance each ticket will be a couple of quid cheaper here

Unbelievable ! I bet theres still morons who go to the games though.

This again, eh.

Well I'll be going to the Peterborough game...for various reasons.

So many people on here criticise those who don't make many games and label them as '******'...yet when a game comes along which involves a higher than expected price (I'll admit, ridiculous for a friendly) you're a moron if you go now?

The term disabled doesnt mean someone who doesnt go to many games

and anybody who does go to peterborough away at those prices for a friendly has to either have a lot of money they dont need or are a bit simple

Well, the prices will stay ridiculous if people keep paying them won't they! If people don't vote with their feet for a massively overpriced friendly against a glorified fourth division non-entity who think they can charge the earth because they spent last season in the big time, then nothing will change will it? It's an almost uniquely English attitude of just moaning about the price, paying up and accepting the status quo. Doesn't half annoy me.

Maybe, or they just fancy a decent night on the terraces?

It was the same with Ipswich away as well, some guys on here proper ridiculed those of us who went.

Well, when all's said and done, it depends what matters more to you. Is it following your team up and down the land every game regardless of cost (provided you can afford to do that), or is it wanting to make a stand against pricing in modern football. I'm not saying one option is right or better than the other, and to a certain degree I can see why people paid over the odds to watch a league game at Ipswich (much as I would've loved a mass boycott to have happened). But really, for anyone over 18 and not in education to have to pay £22 to stand at Peterborough in a meaningless game is verging on the daft. People just can't afford to be ripped off like that!

Fortunately I Am in a position where I can afford to follow my team where ever they go and that some clubs realise this and exploit this. this is totally unfair on loyal fans who have to be careful on which matches they can afford. I know in years gone by people looked forward to friendlies as they were affordable. I agree that the prices for this match seem to be unfaily high, I am going to write to their chairman asking how they as a club can justify charging this amount when other clubs seem to be able to reduce prices for friendlies. If I get a reply I will post it on this thread.

They were only ridiculed because they stated that they couldnt see the point in boycotting. That's why. The point stands that if you make a point of it by not attending the prices will continue ie. LCFC (now £4 expensive than the average in this division).

The team are off to Slovenia next week, anyone know where and who, if anyone we are playing as I am in Maribor for a few days with work. Could pop over and join in pre season :dunno:

In two years, they have played one friendly there and that was a day's notice. They are based not far from Ljubliana.

I know we played Olimpija Ljubljana before the 08-09 season, might be playing them again.

I went to Ipswich that day, and just sat in the pub while the game was on.. £30 to go in the worst away end in the league? HA! Clubs will continue to rip loyal fans off until people stop paying the stupid prices. I just can't let myself get ripped off in the way you & other people do. Just feels wrong.

Thanks for that, I will look like a stalker roaming around Slovenia asking if anyone has seen a football team with no manager, so probably running around in circles a lot.

Training looks a bit like this:

 RUN FASTER , WELL DONE :chant: What was that :dunno: Am I banging my head against a brick wall :frusty: , Time for a chat ;) You are playing for Leicester :scarf:

As promised is a reply from Peterborough FC from an E mail I sent them questioning the pricing of a friendly game.

Thank for taking the time to write and I am sorry to hear of your disappointment.

The prices for our pre-season matches are set to reflect financial presumptions that include estimated attendance verses visiting club cost & gate-take percentage, police & stewarding cost, ambulance & staffing costs and all other auxiliary expenditure to firstly enable the club to cover its cost-base outlay. Economy of scale from a large crowd would obviously benefit the football club but our historical pre-season attendance pattern suggests that lower ticket entry pricing could potentially result in a negative financial position.

Thank you again for your time.

Yours sincerely

I actually hate Posh. Money grabbers. But they are talking utter bollocks because they lowered the price of the Carling Cup match with Rotherham to £13 for adults in seating areas and £9 for the terrace, so how cna they do that?!?! Surely that is putting them in a 'negative financial position'?!

Plus all the friendly ticket prices are all the same so Posh fans have to pay the same amount of money to see Villa, West Ham, Forest and us, surely they are equally attractive as Rotherham in the cup?

Tin pot team.
