Just wondering what peoples opinions are on this. We went on a run of 5 wins in a row when we went back to 4-4-2 at the end of the season but then on the other hand we had some very good performances with 4-3-3 e.g S****hope and Forest at home, and I think if we could add an attacking mid to the squad i.e Rob Koran 4-3-3 could really work well with king and wellens sitting in a deeper role with king breaking forward from time to time.

I think we should see what players we have next season before picking a system to play with.

Just thinking pearson might decide before the season starts what he wants his main system to be then try and get the players in to suit it.

Ladies and gentlemen. We will be playing Four-Four-fooking Two.

I just love the progressive thinking on this forum...

For those of you who have not noticed Mike 'Four-Four-Fooking-Two' Bassett is on tonite, C5 after the footie, more or less...

who is Rob Koran? I've heard of Robert Koren but not this lad.

Anyway Webbo sums it up perfectly. You need to see what players we have then build the system based on that. Besides have we actually played 4-3-3, every time we've looked like attempting it it became 4-5-1

Ah the classic football formation, 4-4-2. it sucks.

4-3-3 is better nowdays, as football becomes faster paced, attackers find it easy to get past defenders. That maybe bull to some people. Those some people would be me.

Leicester naturally play better in a 4-3-3 so JUST PLAY IT

4, 4, ****ing 2.

Nah I just watched Mike Bassett England Manager, seriously though, 4-3-3 probably works best for us as it offers more attacking options... but the ability to rotate the formations around is key to success as you need to be able to be flexible when faced with different situations.

Depends on the players we have at the time. We can play 1-1-8 for all I care so long as Pearson gets it to work.

You play the formation that works. That might even mean changing formation during a match. Anyone who thinks that you can play using just one formation (at least successfully) for a whole season is out if their cotten-pickin' mind!

Fair enough in an ideal world, but think on...

Your club is losing money (nearly £20m) in two years, you need to be really careful what you spend your budget on.

As has been pointed out, with our loan players gone, Howard, Oakley and Brown unlikely to play much and Tunchev's recovery still not certain we are going to need quite a few players. If we are going to run a proper, competitive reserve side, as has been mentioned, we are going to need a lot of players.

I feel it is imperative that the management team has a decent idea of how we are going to play so that what resources we do have are concentrated on players (and positions) that are going to play every week.

Clearly you need some degree of flexibility, no argument, but your best system revolves around your best players so you have to prioritise players who will fit into that system and where necessary play every week.

Well exactly. Not us.

Just a response to all the posts saying we should get **** or look at ****.

Pearson will clearly have his own ideas and will, hopefully, be able to bring in players to develop the team in his own way.

Anyone with even half a brain knows that ttis is the way it really is but it does not stop fans speculating and putting forward their own ideas, nor should it.

Personally I have no idea of the players we should be looking to get in but like everyone else I know the areas that I would like to see strengthened.

In fact I have just two thought about how we should go about preparing for next seasons campaign, they are,

1) Make the best possible use of the players we already have.

2) Use the confidence gained from two good seasons to develop a more aggressive attacking style to complement our already sturdy defence.
