skinner05 Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Orite folks Joey has signed for Huddersfield Town today after he was released by Burnley. Can't really get an honest opinion off them as they are pissed off with him for speaking out against the manager and club earlier this season. Is he a good signing for us? What position did he play for you lot, holding midfielder or more box to box? Cheers for any info

Good on the ball, hard in the tackle, awesome shooting ability and will be a real asset at that level. Easily a Championship quality midfielder.
Corky Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 For League 1 he'll be a really good signing. Got a fantastic long shot on him, as he showed several times with us. Good move for yourselves.
ousefox Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 He will be great in League 1 and will probably one of the best players in the league. He could definitely get into a lot of championship teams first 11 and I would have liked to see him back here to be honest.
Narborough_fox Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Great6 player I think he will make it big time in League 1!

Point proved by the posts above. Very good signing for a league one team though.
lovelcfc Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 he is a very good signing for you wouldnt mind having him here he will be very good for you brilliant shot on him
dandannieldanok Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 I don't think he'll be that good. Got a fantastic shot on him yes but his passing was insipid most of the time, and he never had much presence about him. Huddersfield have some decent midfielders in their squad, I personally don't think Gudjonsson will prove much of an improvement.
Tilley Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 People actually wanted him back here?! Never understood the mass cult following he had when he was here, as said before, it was mainly because he could hit a ball.
Poakey Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Has anyone mentioned yet that he's got a good shot on him?
Maybes Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Tidy signing is that for Huddersfield. Would be decent in League one.
Xander Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 He is typical of the player we had back in then. He is fondly remembered as being great as he 'shone' amongst a team of cack. JG has had so many mediocre clubs for a reason. He'll be fine in L1 but to think he was overlooked by 24 CCC clubs says it all.

Not all 24 From Icelandic media: Joey snubbed Barnsley for Huddersfield move Joey Gudjonsson has signed a two year contract with english League 1 club Huddersfield. He travelled from Iceland to England on Monday with the intent to negotiate with Championship side Barnsley. „I went to England with the intention to sign for Barnsley but Huddersfield showed an interest at the last minute and showed a great ambition to get me. When I had met the manager, Lee Clark, my mind had completely changed,“ Gudjonsson told Fotbolti.net. „I feel Huddersfield is a bigger club than Barnsley even though they are playing one league lower. I am very exited about their future plans and it looks like that exiting times are ahead at Huddersfield. Its a big club with big ambition and it will be fun to deal with the task of getting the club promoted.“ Gudjonsson said other english club had showed an interest. „There was an interest from more clubs and there was a tempting offer from a team in Southern-England but I wanted to focus first on the clubs in the area I live in so I could avoid moving. It was a big plus when Huddersfield entered the picture because it is closer to Manchester than Barnsley. It was the best option and I put interest from other teams aside when Huddersfield came calling.“ Source : http://www.fotbolti.net/fullStory.php?action=viewStory&id=92154
TYNMAN Posted 7 June 2010 Posted 7 June 2010 top class for league 1 should be in double figures by the end of the season, never good enough to get back into city team though
Narborough_fox Posted 21 July 2010 Posted 21 July 2010 Scored against Blackburn today described as a cracking strike, nice to see him doing well.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Always remember his pass to DeVries against spurs! That was class. He did practically the same ball to Hume for the equaliser against Crewe about a couple of weeks earlier if I remember right. I have fond memories of JG but then I didn't watch him week in week out so not reeally a valid opinion. I remember him breaking a dreadful scoring drought for us of like 5 games when he netted against Watford too.
