davieG Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 Leicester City's pre season preparations continued at the Walkers Stadium this week, with last season's pitch being dug up. The pitch has been a hive of activity since the end of the season, with numerous tournaments and community projects taking place. Nigel Pearson's men took to the field 25 times last season and work will continue through the coming months ahead of the Championship kick-off in August. OS for piccys
lcfc"weasel" Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 Did it not get done before last season as well? Surely it does not need doing two pre-seasons in a row.

lcfc"weasel" Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 Did you watch Leicester near the end of the season, the ptich was cr@p. Looked in good condition to me, even in the play-offs.
Ozwin Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 Looked in good condition to me, even in the play-offs. That's what I thought. Looked great.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 They couldn't get the work done in 2007, and look how the pitch was by February. They're probably just taking no chances.
samjohnson Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 It survived the harshest winter in years, yet it did begin to cut up nearer the end of the season... Good move
goose2010 Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 Would of thought 95% of teams will be laying new pitches during pre season, the pitch did look fantastic at the start of the season last year.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 Wish I'd of known. I need some new grass where my dogs keep p***** on my lawn. Would lovingly have laid a sod or two from The Walkers.
Edmund Posted 11 June 2010 Posted 11 June 2010 It survived the harshest winter in years, yet it did begin to cut up nearer the end of the season... We've got undersoil heating
Jay Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 I look forward to another exciting off season of pitch updates like the last year although I feel they have a wasted opportunity I believe last years first photos started off with man stands on pitch looking puzzled with a fork, before the dramatic headline Tractors move in New pitch update, To lorry arrives with new turf and ooh look grass on a pitch being watered and the dramatic conclusion to this 6week saga of man painting white lines on a football pitch. never fails to amaze me how they can come up with endless boring updates just to fill space and when it comes to something important are about three weeks behind everyone else
????? Posted 12 June 2010 Posted 12 June 2010 Did it not get done before last season as well? Surely it does not need doing two pre-seasons in a row. It was before the league 1 season when it was dug up. Not before last season.
Dan Posted 13 June 2010 Posted 13 June 2010 It was before the league 1 season when it was dug up. Not before last season. Pretty sure we've done it every year under Pearson to be fair.
TWUKO Posted 14 June 2010 Posted 14 June 2010 I Think this is a good move, if the budget is there then why not. I think our pitch always looks very good. groundsmen do a good job. Also the stadium is set up well to survive the weather conditions. Undersoil heating for the winter and also the Kop and west stand have part transparent roofs so the pitch catches the sunlight when its setting in the west, good forward thinking unlike places like Man City where they need grass growing lights on, because its dying all the time!
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 16 June 2010 Posted 16 June 2010 I thought it was pretty standard to replace the pitch every summer these days but I could be wrong. Hasn't been top of my priority list to memorise the dates when the pitch has been relayed to be honest...
