Adams in line for shock Leicester return

Micky Adams could be offered a return to Leicester City after the shock departure of Nigel Pearson to Hull.

Port Vale chief Adams, the last man to manage the Foxes in the Premier League, will head the list as chairman Milan Mandaric looks for his ninth boss in little more than three years in charge.

Pearson, who guided Leicester to promotion from League One in his first season and then reached the Championship play-offs this year, will move after failing to agree a new contract because of disagreements about next season’s budget.

That will pave the way for ambitious Adams, 48, to return to the Walkers Stadium, where he won promotion to the top flight in 2003 despite a transfer ban because the club were in administration.

Former Portugal international Paulo Sousa, who fell out with his board at Swansea over a lack of transfer cash, will also be on Mandaric’s shortlist.

And, ironically, he will also look at Iain Dowie, whose failure to keep Hull in the top flight during a spell as temporary consultant has opened the way for Pearson to move to the KC Stadium.

Adams has been going downhill fast since leaving us, not a good sign. Same with Iain Dowie, a couple of absolute mares have ruined him.

As I've said on another thread though, I'd snap Paulo Sousa's hand off right now.

Of all of our ex-bosses, Micky Adams is certainly the best and i'm sure the fans hold no bad feeling toward him.

He had absolutely ridiculous obstacles in his way when he was here but still managed to get us promoted convincingly and very nearly kept us up.

When he left we were only 4 points off the play offs and we had a pretty decent squad.

Unfortunately since he left he's not been particularly successful.

I don't agree. He turned Port Vale around this season. Not that he'd be my first choice for the job.

In my opinion he left us too early and was forced out by some incredibly stupid fans. He was harshly treated and I would have liked to see him stay longer, he was capable of getting us repromoted. However since leaving us he has been too average, never doing a shocking job anywhere but not setting the world alight, and it has cost him a couple of jobs.

Now if he were to be offered it, would he take it? In a recent interview at Port Vale he said it was a mistake to go back to Brighton.

"But I made a mistake going back to Brighton and I needed another challenge.
Would he learn from previous mistakes and not come back to Leicester? Or would he see Leicester as a different challenge to what it was previously, as the circumstances are so different?

Paulo Sousa looks a good candidate.

No thanks. Negative football at the max. 1 goal a game at the most?

**** it, why not go for Little or McGhee while we're at it?

Adams (who i have no ill feeling for by the way) would be a backwards step in my opinion.

Please no, his dads army team he came up with was the most painful team to watch in the 18 years I've been going down.

Why is Dowie ever considered for a vacant managers role, it baffles me every time.

Dreadful manager and pundit.

Sousa / O'Driscoll if we can get either please.

O'Driscoll would be a great shout - whether milan would stick his hand in his pocket for the compo is another matter..... ( IF nige leaves that is.... )

Let's go with someone brimming with confidence and success Paul Lambert from Norwich.

Not a chance in the world of that. Lambert has already spent more money this preseason than we're going to and he's been given another £1m to get Jackson from Gillingham. I fancy Norwich for the playoffs with him in charge this season

Just a few more name to throw in to the ring........................................

Mark Robins would be my 1st choice. He's done an excellent job since he entered into management. He's young & ambitious & I would think he's also well respected, being a former quality player.

For Gods' sake no to Dowie, Hart, Gregory, Adams, & other useless failures.

I wouldn't mind Neil Warnock if we could get him to leave QPR. NW v MM , what a punch up that would be!

Gary Mills & Steve Walsh partnership?

Mark Hughes?
