Joe. Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 From the OS: Welcome to Slovenia, famous for.... well being the only country England could muster a victory against in this summer's World Cup, along with caves and from what I've seen so far a lot of hills. Tucked away in the countryside in the town of Maribor, Paulo Sousa's Leicester City side are preparing for the start of the 2010-2011 season. The players are in good spirits ahead of the new campaign; the first thing I encountered after arriving at the hotel was Nicky Adams being wheeled around in a skip by Richie Wellens and Paul Gallagher. Some things never change. There are new faces in the ranks though; Tom Kennedy and Miguel Vitor will be hoping to use this time to impress the new gaffer. Later today a hastily arranged practice game is set to take place about an hour away from the club's training base. It looks like all of the squad will be involved in Sousa's first game in charge. There's plenty more written and video action to come from Slovenia over the next few days, keep it here on lcfc.com. By Rob Jones
ousefox Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 OOH how exciting So we are playing a game there then. Wonder if we will get highlights or a detailed analysis in the next blog
Fosse Boy Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 Nice to see our Manc Prank Mafia up to their old jokes again.
Guest Bilo Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 Gallagher, Wellens and Adams seem like the real characters of the squad. Brilliant.
Joe. Posted 14 July 2010 Author Posted 14 July 2010 Lost 4-1 with our goal from dj. Dear me. I remember DJ scoring on our last trip to Slovenia I think...
Matt Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 I said it for the past 2 years, I'm not too bothered or worried if we lose friendlies, bearing in mind our relegation to League One season we won all our friendlies (I think ) and look how the season turned out - In relegation. Don't think we had amazing pre-season results prior to out League One season or last season and look how they turned out - Impressive. But i'm ready for people to hit the panic button.
KFS Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 1. He mixed like 3 possible teams today, just setting the players up for a little experience. 2. Not all those players will play regularly. 3. None of them would want to be injured, so not 100% Nothing to worry about lads, can't wait for the season to start after that

Fox You Forest Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Second part is up, looks like they're playing another game out there. Anyone who thinks that pre-season training is easy can think again! After a morning being put through my paces alongside Foxes attacker Paul Gallagher you can understand far better just how much hard work goes into being ready for the big kick off which comes against Palace on August 7th.Paul Gallagher has hit the gym very hard in a bid to be fit for the second game of City's tour of Slovenia. Rather foolishly I volunteered to join Gallagher for the 9am session, and under the watchful eye of Foxes' goalkeeping coach Mike Stowell, we combined bike work and weights, stretching almost every muscle to what felt like breaking point! When you consider this is the kind of work out that the players do most days of the week, it's no surprise that the boys are in such good shape. What is equally as impressive, is the way the players are taken care of after the workout is over, a protein shake and then a dip in the ice bath, which literally takes your breath away, is all designed to make sure they recover properly. Given they have two more sessions to go today, it's crucial they are ready to go again. Speaking of being 'ready to go' the team will be desperate to get back on the pitch and improve on the opening defeat against Jegellonia. The Polish side are well ahead of City in terms of preparation, but it's good to see the players still being desperate to win every game even if it is the first of the pre-season programme.
