"This is effectively an attempt at succession-planning by the FA.

"Pearce has a dual role as Under-21 manager and the FA is keen to start grooming another potential successor to Capello."

I doubt the FA would see Powell as a potential successor to Capello. But who knows?

Name a former Leicester City manager who has dealt with all levels of the England set-up up to and including the under 21s and has been touted as a 'young, up-and-coming manager'.

It's going to be Pearson aint it

He's already worked with the U21's, and i think him and Capello would get on like a house on fire, both just sit their looking arsey at each other.

No, it is Peter Taylor who actually managed England for one game vs Italy.

The FA know how to pick 'em
