LeicesterLuke Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 Leicester City centre-back, Jack Hobbs, says he would be more than happy to partner Michael Morrison at the heart of the Foxes defence in the coming season.Hobbs, who won City's Player of the Year and shared the Player's Player prize with Andy King, partnered Wayne Brown for much of last season and Alex Bruce in the play-off semi-finals against Cardiff. But both players are no longer at the club and former Cambridge man, Morrison, looks the favourite to play alongside Hobbs when the new campaign kicks-off against Crystal Palace on August 7th. The pair played together for much of the successful League One campaign, which culminated in promotion, and Hobbs is hoping to have the opportunity to reignite that partnership. "We've done a lot of work together already, and there's a lot to learn with the new gaffer, but we're both learning at the same time. I think the more time we spend playing together and training together, that understanding is only going to get better. In the League One season we spent a lot of time playing together, and we're both young, hungry and have a real appetite to improve." Hobbs has been impressed with what he has seen so far from the new faces in the Foxes squad in summer signings Tom Kennedy and Miguel Vitor. "Tom's looked very good in training, he communicates a lot and he can a find a pass, so it's very exciting. Obviously it must be difficult for Miguel with the language barrier, as he doesn't speak much English, but luckily he's got the management staff that speak Portuguese. But he looks good so far, fit and strong, a good player." Alongside Bruno Berner and Robbie Neilson, Hobbs now finds himself as one of the more senior defenders in the squad, and the former Liverpool man is hoping he can pass on some knowledge to the younger players. "It's an added responsibility that I'll try and take on. I'd like to be able to help a few of the younger lads coming through. It's always important, so far in my career I've taken a lot of advice from more senior players. If I can do that for a few of the younger lads coming through then so be it."
Corky Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 Amazing to think Hobbs is going to be a senior defender. Would like to see Hobbs and Morrison start the season together.
nuttytimmy Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 I'd forgotten Bruce had gone... No wonder Sousa's first signing was a centre half!
Jimmy Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 I'd like to see us sign another Cb and have Morrison become the established right back
MrSpaM Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 In the League One season we spent a lot of time playing together, and we're both young, hungry and have a real appetite to improve." Somebody give these guys a sandwich! Hobbs + Morrison
I-Love-Ryan-McGivern Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 yay moza and hobbs now can we get ryan bk as well plz
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 Hobbs and Morrison will be a good partnership in time. Hobbs is a better leader, but Morrison is more deadly from set pieces.
xplicitmaterial Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 These 2 are in the top 5 of my fave players at lcfc and i cant wait to see them start week in and week out in defense. I'd like to see morrison at right back tho as he has a good shot on him when he gets forward but hobbs leading the back give him the armband i say
Bryn Posted 16 July 2010 Posted 16 July 2010 I saw Michael Morrison play very early on in League One, against MK Dons I think. In fact it'll have been the first game of the season won't it, and I thought he had heaps of potential. Communicative, strong, reasonably agile for a lower league centre back. I'd love to see these two young English defenders form a solid partnership, and I also hope for the emergence of Kennedy at left back - along with Weale, that's a great core to have at the back.
foxfan13 Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Morrison and Hobbs when they've played together at the back have formed a good partnership that can only improve with more experience. I'd be happy to see that pairing but it'd mean we definitely need another right back. Gives me nightmares to think about someone like Nielsen coming in!! Aaargh!! However if we find another decent centre back then at least we know we can re focus Morrison into the right back position

Gives me nightmares to he's a keeper.
foxfan13 Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Gives me nightmares to he's a keeper. !! Always spell Neilson's name wrong! Then again the keeper would probably give me more confidence..............
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Hobbs has certainly got a mature head on his young shoulders. Something for the other younger players to imitate.
lanxfox Posted 18 July 2010 Posted 18 July 2010 Hobbs and Morrison would be a good pairing, with Bruno on the left and Weale at the back sounds a really strong foundation!
