I never said they were SCOTTISH players i said from the scottish league i.e. Scotland. Im just saying Levein will not sign people in the lower leagues as he knows absolutely nothing about them

113730

And my point was he signed maybury from leeds, de vries from holland and kisnorbo from australia. Leaving hughes as the only player that CL signed for the first time from scotland. Had these three been signed from the clubs CL signed them from originally this rubbish about him only signing players from scotland wouldnt even surface. Sometimes City fans are so short-sighted its unreal.

113731

Not to mention the fact that half the reason we got Rob Kelly was so we had someone who knew the English leagues....and that CL has been going to matches all around the country ever since he arrived here.

Christ, Trevor Benjamin scored 20-odd goals in that league. He might be cack.

Don't tarnish everybody with the same brush. Also Kazim-Richards would be on a free transfer or a mimimal tribunal fee.

There have been some quality players to come out of League 2 in recent years - Dave Nugent from Bury, Jimmy Bullard from Wycombe, Jonathan Stead from Huddersfield, Jason Jarret from Bury, Dean Kiely and Paddy Kenny from Bury, Liam Lawrence from Mansfield (or was he from League 1), Dean Whitehead from Oxford (or again was he League 1)

Anyway I could find more if I could be arsed. All i'm saying is he's a great prospect and could be worth a gamble for not alot of money.

Fair enough some decent players have come from League 2 but there's no point in getting worked up over some kid who you've never seen play (not referring to you personally but some of the other people on this thread). I can see him going somewhere else and people on here moaning about it when I believe Levein has already had him in on trial and so will know more than any of us whether we should sign him or not.

Posted
I can't comment because I've never seen him play. But by the sounds of it he would be a great sub to have.

We have only Stewart, Kenton, Connoly?, and Hughes with a bit of pace in our side. That's worrying....

112510

Stewart yes. kenton doesn't play for us. connolly is very slow. and Hughes is very very slow.

113566

Connolly very slow? He's not amazingly quick, but he is nippy.

Hughes isn't the quickest, but to label him very very slow is just silly. The likes of Gemmill and Nalis are pedestrian, not Hughes.

CZR is no Trevor Benjamin. Big Trev was very much in the battering-ram mould. This guy is more like Stan Collymore.

I've heard strong rumours that we are the favourites to sign this lad. Bury's manager has given up hope of him signing a new deal and i've heard from a little bird that CKR is on his way!

Posted

Hoof, how confident are you of us signing CKR, as one of my cousins has a season ticket at Bury and says that he is destined to be in the Premiership, and there are rumours down there are a few clubs are keeping close tabs on him, notably Tottenham, so Im not sure that he is on his way to us, but if you could reassure me some more by saying how confident you are then it would be much appreciated!

I get to hear the odd bit of info now and again due to someone I know working somewhere where players attend when they've just signed or are signing for Leicester. They reckon that CKR has been there having talks with Levein.

All I know is that this source has told me a few things in the past and some things have been true and some haven't, meaning some players have gone on to sign for Leicester and others haven't.

CKR wants to progress but he isn't stupid, would he really get in a premiership team at present? Not a chance! He wants to move down south and we are within reason, he'll get a chance at Leicester with Levein's policy and i'm confident we will sign him. But don't shoot me if we don't, i'm just reporting what i've heard.

Cheers mate, hopefully you are right! Any other rumours that your mate has passed on to you??

I actually spoke to an official of one of the clubs about 2 months ago (under very random circumstances - I don't have any contact within either of these clubs). He told me that Leicester were "favourites" to sign CKR at this point. This person would have known - and would have no reason to have told me a porky.

Still, until a deal is done, we'll have to wait and see - deals get hijacked all the time.

Go on Hoof who are some of those that didn't sign.

Not sure if your answer would please me or depress me but lets find out.

Midfielders Dwayne Mattis and Simon Whaley have the same agent as young striker Colin Kazim-Richards and while Barrow doesn't envisage any problems in the first two re-signing it's the much-admired Kazim-Richards that could be on his way out of the club.

A host of teams are believed to be ready to sign the talented 19-year-old who is just out of his three-year scholarship period, however, nothing concrete has yet been received by the Shakers.

If he chooses to go, the club would have to rely on a tribunal to set a fee and hope for a number of sell-on clauses based on his further development.

This is from an article on the Bury official site.

Posted
Don't like the sound of the tribunal fee, hope its something we can afford.

118429

The tribunal fee will be a pittance. He's only been at Bury for a year or so and the compensation costs only cover what it's cost Bury to train CKR and that's about it. It's nothing to do with the worth of the player. The reason we paid £500,000 for Williams was because he'd been at Forest for about 8 years and had played 5 caps for Scotland. But for a youngster who's not been there long, only on a scholar contract and not got any international caps your looking at well under £100,000 with perhaps a sell-on clause or a fee after appearances.

Well this is the first bit of info i've been given for a while, probably since Levein has been here. There were alot of players my source informed me about last summer and obviously all didn't come true.

The main one I can think of where my source sweared down he'd seen where he works was Lee Carsley, but that never happened did it?

Infact the last one I was told was Sinama-Pongolle on loan just before Adams left, whether that was bollocks or it just didn't materialise i'm not sure. I wasn't happy though.

I did find out that Connolly had actually signed a day or so before everyone else as my source had said he'd seen him where he works for about 3 or 4 days running with Adams and it was a done deal. But it's often that my source doesn't get to see these players until after they've signed as it's where often go when they first sign. Some attend there when in talks with Leicester though, so i'll keep you updated.
