Brainy Posted 28 August 2010 Posted 28 August 2010 Some very interesting quotes appearing Explaining the scam he said: "Let me tell you the last test we did. It was the Second Test against Australia in Sydney. Australia had two more wickets left. They had a lead of ten runs, yeah. And Pakistan had all their wickets remaining. "The odds for Pakistan to lose that match, for Australia to win that match, were I think 40-1. We let them get up to 150 then everyone lost their wickets. That one we made 1.3. But that's what I mean, you can get up to a million. Tests is where the biggest money is because those situations arise." Majeed then continued to detail how he runs his slick operation. Reporter: "Do we get information like there will be three no-balls in the third over?" Majeed: "Of course, everything. And you get the indication to show if it's on or not. They'll change gloves at a certain point." Reporter: "You will be relaying it." Majeed: "Yeah, it all comes through me. We don't do results that often. The last one we did was against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup which was about two months ago. And you get a script as well." Reporter: "What does that mean, a script?" Majeed: "This bowler is going to concede this many runs, this batsman will do this." Majeed, who runs a property company with a multi-million pound portfolio called Bluesky Developments, also admitted being party to ball tampering, another cheating ruse that has blighted cricket. He shamlessly claimed: "I used to go out on the pitch to give the players their drinks. Whenever we couldn't get a wicket I'd have a lump of Vaseline on my hand. Shake their hand. They'd put it on one side of the ball and the ball would suddenly start in-swinging."
I am Rod Hull Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 Question - if I go to bed tonight thinking about Stuart Broad's innings will it make me gay? Because it's his batting that I really love, not his dreamy eyes, fair hair and pale skin. Erm, yeah... Yes it will
Fox You Forest Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 Anyone read the paper? 'but he said their would be no bets taken on the result of the Oval and Lords tests " because we're trying to win those because we want Butt to stay as captain"
C-man Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 This is a really sad day for cricket. When one of the best young prospects in the world can be corrupted so easily then the game is up. I don't think they can honestly play the ODIs and T20s with all this hanging around. No doubt they will though.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 Why didn't I think of this scam first ?! Only joking. Ban them from the sport. One of the biggest scandals I think Ive ever seen.
C-man Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 Just watched Michael Atherton questioning Strauss on the cleanliness of the sport. Oh the irony.
Fox You Forest Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 Wonder how the few in the Pakistan team who weren't involved feel, giving their all to try and win while most of the players around you are taking money to do the opposite.
Mickyblueeyes Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 Breaking News is that the Bookie hasnt been charged and bailed by Scotland yard. I know what Mohammed Amir the 18 yr old has done is wrong. I know it's unforgiveable. But I was just thinking today at 18 I was a complete dumbass like most 18 yr olds. Why wasnt this kid looked after better by his elders! The whole corruption thing is linked to the same region over and over again and I accept they earn a hell of lot less then countries such as England, Australia, NZ etc but so do the West Indian players yet you never hear about this sort of corruption from them. If he is found guilty the world of cricket is set to lose a superstar in the making as I expect them to go down hard on them. Butt, being Captain, should take the brunt of it in my opinion with Amir and Asif given severe bans next to him.
Narborough_fox Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 If players are found guilty they may face the death penalty.
Fosse Boy Posted 31 August 2010 Author Posted 31 August 2010 If players are found guilty they may face the death penalty. What?
Narborough_fox Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 What? Match fixing, someone in Pakistain said that if the players involved (Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir, Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal) they could face the death penalty when the get back to Pakistain, if they are found guilty. If you get my drift.
Fox You Forest Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Looks like they've dropped KP, hopefully a much need kick up the arse.
ScouseFox Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 http://tweetphoto.com/42517482 And he's not too happy about it.
Fosse Boy Posted 31 August 2010 Author Posted 31 August 2010 A spell in county cricket will definitely do him some good.
Corky Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Hampshire need to forgive and forget Ah, just seen it
Fosse Boy Posted 31 August 2010 Author Posted 31 August 2010 Off topic but looks like a blinding wicket at Bristol today.
C-man Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Off topic but looks like a blinding wicket at Bristol today. Appears to be getting better though. My Dad always tells me of when he watched Leics dismiss Glamorgan for 24 in the 70s Thinking about this scandal... I remember seeing Umar Gul just kicking his run up marker around in the first test. He was bowling big no-balls then. Bit dodgy maybe?
Jackirius Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 Bloody ridiculous, i thought i would be safe when i put a £100 bet on Pakistan not bowling a no ball on the 1st ball of the 3rd over... Asif played for a club up the road from me when he was dropped for the first test and they all said he was a lovely guy... Funny what money can do too people.
C-man Posted 31 August 2010 Posted 31 August 2010 I played against Asif's brother once when he was at Leics. Asif came to watch, he was pretty sound.
