Thracian Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Weale 6.5 (One brave and excellent save in challenging Iwelumo - the result of which forced him to leave the field later). Neilson 5 (Just a nondescript contribution). Hobbs 6 (Okay without ever being outstanding), Moreno 5 (Left for dead by Iwelumao for a disallowed header andprobably at fault on the far post for their second, though I couldn't be sure it was him). Berner 4 (Still looks off the pace and nothing like the player he was last season). Wellens 7 (Never stopped giving his all for 90 minutes. Did very little when he got the ball but he did compete and look s if he wanted to win) Oakley 5 (Largely by-passed and overrun in midfield, like his colleagues. Had very little impact). King 2 (Appalling, apart from a good one-two with DJ at the end he could pass the ball at all and almost seemed to be hiding in frustration judging by the way he so rarely got involved with the ball. How DJ needed a decent pass or two from the normally reliable youngster.). N'Guessan 1 (What's the bloke for? Had several really good opportunities to make something happen but his crosses from the left were pitifully misdirected although his team-mates hardly seemed desperate to get on the end of them anyway!) Howard 3 (Huffed and puffed in his usual way but DJ badly needed more subtle support that Howard looked capable of offering). DJ 5.5 (Missed a brilliant chance in the opening minutes but could have been the key to unlocking Burnley's defence if anyone had shown themselves capable of providing the passes to complement his occasionally quick and intelligent runs across their backline. Subs: Logan 5.5 (Two goodish saves but might have done better for their second although City's defender on the back post seemed to be the man most able to deal with the situation but was instead, well beaten in the air). Lamey 6 (Positive, quick, skillful and well involved. Another promising cameo). Moussa 6 (Balanced, wanted the ball, tidy passer ... encouraging at least).
Unabomber Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Weale 6 (Was fairly steady until he had to go off) Neilson 6 (Decent enough for his standards, found a lot of space, but didn't use it too well) Hobbs 6 (DId a decent job even though we conceded 3) Moreno 5 (Looked average at best and hit far too many wayward hoofs towards Howard). Berner 5 (Nowhere near the player he was last season atm). Wellens 7 (Was easily our best player, although that isn't saying much) Oakley 4 (Poor. Didn't do his job, his passing was poor and he didn't lead the team). King 3 (Very poor, uncharacteristically so, his passing was abysmal and even simple passes were placed out of touch etc). N'Guessan 2 (His effort was disgusting, he didn't look interested at all, when he had the good chance at the start he should have looked up. Not a team player and poor all round) Howard 4 (He won next to nothing in the air and spent the majority of the game complaining about the poor service to him, which said more about the midfielders ability to pass the ball). DJ 5 (Should have scored, he didn't look interested either, but to be fair he rarely saw the ball, and even though he made some clever runs the passes where nowehere to be seen)
Tommeh Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Wellens 8 Neilson 7 Everyone else 4's or 5's. Moussa and Lamey both worthy of a creditable 6, was impressed with those 2.

Lets just hope that it was his 1 off day untill Man Utd pay £43million for him in 3 years time

eastendfox Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Weale / Logan 6 - Didn't really do a lot wrong Neilson 7 - Did well given he was frequently up against 2 with DJ not tracking back Hobbs / Moreno 7 - Actually thought they both did pretty well, first half we defended very well in particular. Neither can pass though Berner 6 - Seems a bit off the pace by his usual standards Oakley 6 - As a defensive midfielder did ok for me Wellens 8 - Man of the match for me, never stopped trying to work, unfortunately for him, we now come to... King 3 - Woeful, worst I've seen him play DNG 3 - Equally woeful DJ 3 - One good run, on the down side lazy and generally anonymous Howard 3 - Never got a scrap out of Bikey Other subs: Lamey 4 - Looked out of his depth defending, we conceded two goals coming down his side in 10 minutes after he came on Mousse or whatever his name is - not long enough, but a couple of positive runs Sousa 0 - No plan B, terrible substitution of Neilson Lunchtime beer 10 - great and only £2 a pint. Should have stayed in the pub
Karljohn Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Dany N'Guessan was my tip to "step up" this season, looks like I am on my arse again with my predictions! I'll have to single him out for his sheer inability to cross a ball, lack of interest, lack of composure, threat, I havent got a fooking clue which is his strongest foot but he's completely brain dead, after he had failed with 2 crosses in the 2nd half which he put into touch I asked him pretty please to just hit the penalty spot with the third one should he get the chance, anything to just keep it in play, he didnt oblige. A very special 2 out of 10, he got 1 mark for putting the correct shirt on and lacing his own boots. The rest a very generous 5, no one stood out for me. Bloke who ran on the pitch and nicked the corner flag 6, would have been 10 had he evaded more stewards, I dont usually condone it but it was reasonably entertaining. Sousa 3 Powell scored 3 out of 3 pens against Conrad so 10 out of 10 for that. The pies, shit, 3 out of 10.
bigneville Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Weale - 7 - Felt confident with him in the goal. A great punch to deny Iwelumo which resulted in him leaving the pitch. Was certainly missed. Neilson - 6 - Certainly tried, but had no support on the right hand side, was often over ran. Certainly an improvement from last season, but are we going to keep clean sheets with him in the team. I'm really not sure. Hobbs - 7 - Dealt with Iwelumo very well. Thought Jack had a decent game. Although seems to be struggling with Moreno, possibly due to a langauge barrier. They certainly don't look like a solid centre half pairing together Moreno - 5 - First time i've seen him, and he looked very useful on the ball. But defensively very very concerning, struggled with the physicality. With Moreno at centre back there is certainly going to be goals conceded if crossed come into the box. Berner - 4 - Off the pace, and really looked a shadow of the ever reliable left back from last season. On current form, he will be dropped shortly. King - 2 - Worst performance i've ever seen from the young lad. The game completely passed him by, and when he did get on the ball, he mis-placed nearly every pass. Should have been put out of his misery by Souza, by being withdrawn before the end. Awful. Oakley - 5 - Poor from Mr Oakley. His set pieces were disgraceful, and the team lacked leadership. Looked out of his depth at times. Wellens - 7 - Gave his all, and tried to create. Shame no-one else wanted it as much as him. N'Guessan - 4 - With a touch this guy would be dangerous, but he hasn't controlled the ball since he arrived at City, and it certainly showed no sign of changing. Offered no defensive cover, and his movement was always forced by a pass. He has such massive potential, but will the guy ever fulfill it, I certainly don't think so. Howard - 5 - Poor from Steve. He never really got going, and wasn't given any service. His place must now be in doubt. Campbell - 5 - Wasted out wide right. When we got the ball to his feet, he looked dangerous, and his pace was going to cause them trouble. But he always hacked down. Missed a good chance to put City 1-0 up, but after that went missing because he was being played out wide. If we want to see the Campbell from Blackpool, he needs to play more central Subs Logan - 6 - Couldn't do anything with the goals to be fair to him. Just doesn't inspire me with any confidence. Lamey - 6 - Why go to ground in the box? Silly mistake from first view. However, he certainly offers more than Neilson going forward. But he's certainly not the long term right back for the team after that performance Moussa - 6 - Did more than Andy King in the first two minutes on the pitch. Showed signs of real pace and desire, shame he was brought on about 20 minutes too late. Manager Souza - 3 - Plan B anyone? Too late with substitutions, and why was there no striker on the bench? He had Gallacher sit there for 90 minutes when we were calling out for someone with some quality to step up and create something. Let the game get out of hand before trying something different.

Fox92 Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 Weale 6 - Flapping one or two times. Went off far to easy to me. Neilson 5 - His worst game this season. Hobbs 6 - The stand out centre back. Played ok. Moreno 5 - Calm and collected. Obviousley only covering and had a lot to deal with. Berner 4 - Steady. Wellens 8 - Playing real football suits him. He was superb. Never stopped trying, nice tackles to get stuck in. His footwork, touch and passing is fantastic. Oakley 6 - Little impact, but better than what we saw last season. Playing in his natural position. King 3 - Invisible. But, what was his position? He didn't seem to know. N'Guessan 1 - A division 2 player at best. Very inconsisent and frustrating. Howard 3 - In Bikey's pocket. Too slow. Campebll 6 - Missed a chance. Doesn't give up though. Subs: Logan 5 - Horridble positioning. Lamey 6 - Promosing. Moussa 6 - Tidy.
Bryn Posted 22 August 2010 Posted 22 August 2010 A Burnley fan I asked to keep an eye on us said Hobbs was alright, King was terrible and Neilson was good.
