Waghorn...

Do you reckon this is Sousa trying to win a few fans back on his side? Or do you think this is Chris Powells input; telling PS how good and promising Waghorn is?

Who cares mate, just as long as we can get a striker who can score goals and wants to play regular football at a club he has adopted as his 2nd team almost - well, good for that.

SIGN HIM UP!!! :scarf:

I just don't see how this is going to happen.

We supposedly offered money that we didn't have months ago. We now have a different manager who wants the same player, with money we still probably don't have seeing as the takeover hasn't been ratified yet.

Well if DJ is sold that would make some money available along with one or two others who have handed in a transfer request.

Possibly, but I doubt we'll get near £2m for a striker with a year left on his contract. Plus, I can't see any club in the Championship having the finances to buy the players supposedly wanting to leave. I could see Premiership teams going for Hobbs and King, but not for the likes of Wellens, Gallagher and Fryatt.

With Frazier Campbell looking likely to be out for a while, it seems unlikely.

Gyan probably signing though. Still seems unlikely though. Bruce wanted Waghorn when he had Campbell, now losing Campbell and gaining Gyan, he'll still be in the same position striker wise.

Phew *wipes brow*

Don't know what i was expecting when i clicked on that link. haha

We'll save what you're thinking for later :whistle:

Is Waghorn that good though? He wasn't amazingly prolific in a top 6 side last season, we are a long way off that team now. He reminds me of Hume, tries hard, works hard and the fans love him for it. Id rather have him in the squad to DJ but I personally don't think he's the answer to our goalscoring problems. Going to get slated for this post now :dunno:

Bruce is after Tuncay as well as Gyan. That would give him 4 fit strikers if Waggy came to us, and 5 strikers in a month or two when Frazer Campbell is fit again. The deal could be possible all considered. £1.5 for DJ coming in - £2m for Waggy going out.

He's still a young player learning his trade. It was a privilege and an honour to witness his development as a striker last season.

If Sousa had to flog both DJ and Fryatt to bring Waggy back, it would still be outstanding business.

you'll get slated cos you're talking shite. check his age, his previous experience at the level, his starts in his proper position and the number of goals he scored and then get back to me.

I'd quite happily see DJ leave if it means we're going to bring in players like Waghorn. He was probably my favourite player last year, gave his all for a team he didn't really have to and is exactly the sort of player fans love, he never stops running. Love him.

im talking shite because i dont agree that he is going to smash in 20 goals and win us the league? The way we are playing under Sousa wont suit him i dont think and getting rid of Fryatt AND DJ for him would not be good business in my eyes. That would leave us with Howard/Waghorn upfront with Gally/Dyer/DNG who can play there if needed. Not going to work,

You shouldnt get slated but probably will, yes! Certain players are beyond critique according to some of the more blinkered of our support! ;)

Youve said what a hell of a lot of fans said in person last season, but Id quite like him back purely because hes so young hes definately got room for improvement, unlike Hume who was the finished article. Waggers is very much a raw talent and one for the future. Agree though that hes not the answer (on his own) but one to keep for latter seasons!

its ridiculous that players who run all day, fair enough they work hard and 100% is given at all times but that doesn't mean they have the relevant talent. Waghorn will be a very good player but he is certainly not there yet.

Although I am a fan of Waghorn and applaud what he did for us last season, I do not think he is the answer we need to keep Fryatt, Howard and Gallagher if we can get Heskey in then why not. I would prefer to bring in a finisher with lightning pace, an experienced centre back and another creative midfielder.

We won't get Heskey.

don't wanna get my hopes up - but that sounds good. then again, not everyone is truthful 24/7

that's true, but it did sound like only if Steve B would let me, kind of answer. so i reckon it will be another "behind closed doors" type of transfer; if it does go through.

*hopes it does" :scarf:

Bruce is in for N'Zogbia, but with Wellbeck only on loan I would imagine he would want 2 strikers in to let 1 go, the Frazier Campbell injury appears to be long term. I reckon the best we will get is the same deal as last year where he can be recalled with 24 hours notice on a youth loan.
