Anish Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I reckon it could be true, considering that Stewart was left out of the first team for a while towards the end of the season. And of course we have the 'natural' left back that is Jason Wilcox signed up for another season.
hinds12 Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 i hope that it doesnt happen because he is better than injury prone tiatto and old man wilcox. However, the lad cant cross for toffee
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I don't think we'd miss him that much if we brought a decent left-back in. Imagine a player of Maybury's quality on the other side as well. SOLID.
Nationwider Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Bournemouth’s Wade Elliott and Garreth O’Connor agreed deals on Monday to take the number of professionals to eleven but if rumours are to believed the squad should very soon be more than double that. Two good players Burnley have got there. I'm surprised Elliott hasn't been snapped up before. Elliott is a left wing-back/midfielder so I'd be surprised if they get Stewart as well. I'd be interested to see what sort of fee we could get for Stewart, nevertheless. I've been quite impressed by the way Cotterill has turned his side around from the ill-disciplined Ternant side to a genuinely tough to beat (if not very exciting to watch) outfit. An outside play-off bet for next season, perhaps?
Little Nicky Posted 22 May 2005 Author Posted 22 May 2005 I like Stewart, but I think his days at the club are numbered! He's the only remaining player to have played at any time under O'Neill and I believe he can still do a good job at left back, It'd be with a heavy heart that I'd see him go, but if we could get a decent fee then it culd well be worth it!
Nationwider Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 if we could get a decent fee then it culd well be worth it! 113362 If we got £250,000 for him, I'm sure we could get someone better for the same price. If that makes sense?
Mark Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Jordan is worth at least £500,000. Why? He's turned into one of the best left backs defensively in this division. Whether he's crap or not going forward, he can suddenly turn it on and create something out of nothing. His crossing towards the end of the season had improved so much anyway. I believe he's essential for us next season, we have no other left sided players of any decency in our squad. Tiatto - won't play half the games next season due to suspension or injury. Same with Wilcox, but he'll just be unfit/injured. Sheehan i can't see being given that many chances. So we'll just see Maybury playing at left back, and that's just horrible because he's such an effective right back. We need 2 more left sided players if Jordan leaves, not happening. Another one of my favourites on the off if this happens, not happy
SilverFox Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Oh shut up! The reason Stewart doesn't produce is because every time he tries something he gets ripped apart for it. His confidence takes a tumble as a result, and then he struggles! The problem with Stewart are the boo boys on his back. On his day he can be excellent! And he could have a lot more of those if some of you people experimented with supporting the players at your club!
SilverFox Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Obviously I wasn't telling chainsaw to shut up there!
Cobbo Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 Obviously I wasn't telling chainsaw to shut up there! 113370 Not what I heard
Nationwider Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 £500K gets you players like these: Scott Dobie West Brom to Millwall £ 500000 09-11-2004 Sean Gregan West Brom to Leeds £ 500000 16-09-2004 Paulo Wanchope Man City to Malaga £ 500000 26-08-2004 David Connolly West Ham to Leicester £ 500000 20-07-2004 Julian Speroni Dundee to C Palace £ 500000 12-07-2004 Youssef Safri Coventry to Norwich £ 500000 08-07-2004 Looking at them, and considering his age, you might be right. And yes, at LB, he's better than Tiatto and Maybury (who def. shouldn't be moved from RB). But every player has a price. I reckon CL could re-invest that to the benefit of the team, should a good offer come in.
Louise Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I was and am a bit perplexed by Jordan's absence from the side towards the end of the season even though it was said he was fit, however when he did come back in I'm surprised that no-one seems to have pointed out how much better we played. Perhaps some of that is down to having Maybury back on the right but it also certainly made a difference having a natural left-sided player playing as well. Levein said in the phone-in that Jordan has to improve a bit but that he was quick and good in defense... hardly the sort of things he said about Heath and Wright that indicated they'd be on the way out. Of course if we were offered money for him I'm sure we'd probably take it as we would with most of our players but I can't imagine Levein been overly keen to sell. I think it's just another one of those silly rumours.
Louise Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I think it's just another one of those silly rumours. 113374 The writer of the article also puts: I somehow don’t imagine all of those players will be anywhere near Turf Moor when we kick off next season although there is every chance that some of them will be
SilverFox Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I think that Jordan needed that break, just as DeVries probably needed one towards the end of the season. The fans were starting to get on their backs and you can see that confidence is an important part of both players games. Jordan has looked a lot brighter and has won me over as a left back since moving to that position! Leaving him out for a bit was a good move! He certainly has the ability, but just needs support rather than derision!
Nationwider Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 He certainly has the ability, but just needs support rather than derision! 113381 No argument from me there. In fact, apply that to the team as a whole. I'll just bite my lip as normal when he does something ultra-daft.
Muz Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I like Jordan and there is no doubt about his ability. He should not go. Like Chainsaw said before the end of the season his crossing was getting much better. Also when he is playing on the left wing i certianly feel when he gets the ball out wide that he can produce a great cross. And remember next year all them assists hes going to get when the crosses from the left result in De Vries heading them powerfully into the top corner

In fact, apply that to the team as a whole. I'll just bite my lip as normal when he does something ultra-daft. 113383 Me too! What a lot of people don't want to understand or grasp is that you have to give players like jordan the opportunity to try things out. If he fails 75% of the time then he gets a lot of stick, but there can be one moment in a game where he puts in a great ball, or plays a great short pass that leads to something...trouble is he doesn't get praise for that. People are still too busy slagging him off for the crosses that led to nothing. I honestly can't explain why so many people don't like him...its baffling!
Louise Posted 22 May 2005 Posted 22 May 2005 I honestly can't explain why so many people don't like him...its baffling! 113386 I agree. And I worry that it's never going to stop, he started playing for us about 6 seasons ago and still people like to slag him off. Surely it's just a matter of time before he gets tired of it and moves on?

What did Jordy do?
