Ozwin Posted 7 October 2010 Posted 7 October 2010 I bought a male to male VGA cable, plugged it in to both my laptop and my Samsung HDTV, clicked F1 (which is the projector button I think) and it gave me the option of computer only, duplicate, extend and projector only. I tried them all and flicked through all the sources on my TV but nothing is being displayed on any of them, I'm completely lost tbh. The PC source is grayed out too, even though the plug is in. I thought this would be easy but it'd driving me mad. I'm on Windows 7 if that changes anything? Thanks for any help.
stripeyfox Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 God knows. Can't help but thought I'd bump it anyway. I know when I tried to connect a pc to a tv it turned out I couldn't as the weren't compatable. Or something.
Houdini Logic Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 The VGA cables work well - it's what I use for my laptop/TV. Press the F button with a picture of a square and a computer on it and that will send a duplicate image to your TV - The button is normally a function of an F key (usually F7 to be honest) so manke sure you hold down 'function' or 'fn' while pressing the correct F key.

Lillehamring Posted 8 October 2010 Posted 8 October 2010 i was using an hdmi and then one day the picture just dropped out, now the two just don't click... i think they're on a trial seperation woohoo - the first link did it for me, only it was F4 on my lap top not F2
Ozwin Posted 8 October 2010 Author Posted 8 October 2010 The problem is that when I plug in the VGA cable, the 'PC' source is grayed out. I don't understand.

It might not appear until you output it from your laptop? You could always extend your desktop - plug in the VGA and right click on your desktop Click on properties Click on settings Click on the the 2nd monitor Click 'extend my windows desktop onto this monitor' Then fire up yor TV and you should get the PC option This doesn't replicate what's on your laptop but rather extends your desktop so you can use your mouse between both 'monitors'. If this doesn't work then there must be something you need to change on your TV
Ozwin Posted 9 October 2010 Author Posted 9 October 2010 That doesn't work for me either. I do the paperclip thing but PC is still grayed out.

danny. Posted 11 October 2010 Posted 11 October 2010 in win 7 go to your control panel and its something like display preferences, or just go to control panel and do a search for 'extend desktop' or something similar
