Ford Super Sunday Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Live Games on ITV and ESPN Rochdale v FC United Of Manchester Friday 5 November Live on ESPN 7.45pm kick-off Cambridge United v Huddersfield Saturday 6 November Live on ESPN 5.30pm kick-off Southport v Sheffield Wednesday Sunday 7 November Live on ITV 12.00 kick-off No surprises, though the live game on ITV is a bit fecked, because there is the Wales derby at 13:10, and a live Premier League match on at 13:30pm the same day, and they couldn't really put it any later because the Brazilian Grand Prix is on, bad luck ITV. It'll be great to see FCUOM on TV, though from reading it looks like there are a few unhappy at it, as the club is a 'fans club' and loved 3pm kick-offs and hates TV etc. etc, but they did say they knew when they voed to enter the FA Cup that this would be a likely outcome. But yes, bring on the FA Cup!
Fosse Boy Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Yeah, the FCUM conundrum is a funny one. While I have a soft spot for the club and what they stand for they might well be accused in some quarters of selling out for the TV cash, which will no doubt be used with the right intent to boost the funds for their new ground. Possibly a case of the ends justifying the means in this instance. Seems like they've taken Rochdale's feelings into account with the decision they've made too. http://www.fc-utd.co.uk/story.php?story_id=3185
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Shame it's on ESPN too, the company that wants to scrap cup replays and move FA Cup ties to a Wednesday night.

In football clubs without benefactors, there is a delicate balance between the profit motive and the will of the fans. At FCUM it is more in favour of the fans than most other clubs. But that doesn't mean it should be turning down the money from the Cup - they'd be mad to. In order to fund the new ground in Newton Heath (as identified by Fosse Boy above) they have to turn a profit. £67,500 is a massive chunk of income for a club with an average gate of 3-4,000, and I'd wager a guess at it being a solid 5-10% of the total capital needed to fund the ground. No point in FCUM cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
Fosse Boy Posted 27 October 2010 Posted 27 October 2010 Yeah, totally agree and that seems to be the conclusion their board's come to. Still bound to upset a few of their members given the idealist anti-modern football ethos on which the whole club was founded.
Fosse Boy Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/9147092.stm Might have to try and get a dirty stream up at work tomorrow night.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 They'd better be careful, that flare will burn down the stand. Those FCUM fans, 'ooligans, the lot of them
Guest Bilo Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Superb support from FCUM. They just don't stop singing.
Guest Bilo Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Goal back for Dale. Don't think the FC fans will be too worried though.
Guest Bilo Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Disappointed for them but if FCUM can hold on for the replay, I wouldn't fancy going to Gigg Lane for the replay as a Rochdale player.
The Doctor Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 goaaaaaallllllll! Norton scores what must be the winner for FC united. 3-2
The Doctor Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 full time - 3-2 FC united. Rochdale keepers had a howler by the sounds of things.
KFS Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Ah, he poked it out of the keepers grasp. Cheating? They deserve though...
Father Ted Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 THAT is what football is about. Singing, pyro, pitch invasions, fighting for every last centimetre of ground and winning away at your local rivals! Football needs more of them! Winning the champions league or an away win at Rochdale, I know which one I would choose!

I'd definitely rather win the Champions' league However, a big step forward for FC United and easily the best result of their history. Hopefully they'll get a winnable tie next round before drawing Manchester United in the third.
purpleronnie Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Amazing I would never had bet FC to win there unless rochdale put out a weak team, this run in the FA cup will have made them around £150,000 which will help them to build their new stadium. I know the 'Development Fund volunteers' has raised over £300,000 as well + a community share scheme too.
Fosse Boy Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Proper Cup tie. Thrills, spills, pitch invasions and and winner in the dying moments to upset the odds. That's why it's the best domestic competition in the world.
