Scarby Posted 27 May 2005 Author Posted 27 May 2005 Team Southampton striker Peter Crouch and Manchester United midfielder Kieran Richardson will make their full England debuts against the USA on Saturday. Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson named the duo in an unfamiliar looking side. Goalkeeper David James is recalled, Michael Carrick makes his third start, while defender Glen Johnson and striker Andy Johnson have also earned places. England team: James, G Johnson, Brown, Campbell, A Cole, J Cole, Jenas, Carrick, Richardson, Crouch, A Johnson. from bbc.co.uk
Scarby Posted 27 May 2005 Author Posted 27 May 2005 Lets hop Johnson gets a decent run out and maybe we can see if he is up to international standard
Shum Posted 27 May 2005 Posted 27 May 2005 At least it gives us a chance to see some of the fringe players and see what they have to offer..
Mark Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 wrong forum 0-4gerrard 116611 Why? 116784 Ignore him Peter Crouch isn't playing now, and how we're going to miss him The starting line up David James Glen Johnson Wes Brown Sol Campbell Ashley Cole Joe Cole Michael Carrick Jermaine Jenas Kieran Richardson Andy Johnson Alan Smith <_<
Scarby Posted 28 May 2005 Author Posted 28 May 2005 Pleased Glen is started i think he has potential its a shame wayne bridges is out still..i like him
City Fan Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 Not even watching it - Dont enjoy England friendlies at the best of times, so whats the point watching a team who will hardly ever play for England again?
Mark Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 I think Richardson will be if his debut is anything to go by 2-0 Richardson again.
Wellman Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 Not the best game I've even seen but Richardson and Joe Cole are playing well
Sparky Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 well played richardson , could be possible answer to englands left side . defended terrible and james was awful but nice to see and england victory
stez Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 saw 5 minutes of it and that was enough for me, good england win though, as the usa arn't as bad as they used to be............
Guest freund Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 one of the most boring games i have ever seen. to be fair, i don't know what i was expecting from sven goran. turned it off after about 30 minutes.
Hazza Posted 28 May 2005 Posted 28 May 2005 I thought Andy Johnson had a good game, lots of energy and but for some overhit passes aimed at him he could easily have scored, chased everything though. Richardson did very well, helped back and got the goals of course. Carrick could well be England's Pirlo (deep lying playmaker) but he looked casual at times. Fairly fortunate to win really, we were very poor defensively and had a few let-offs.
Newcastle_Fox Posted 29 May 2005 Posted 29 May 2005 Quality spot and nice to see some Leicester fans abroad watching the three lions!
