Jay Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 My Knowledge of places to eat in Leicester stretches to TJ's Burgers and the chippy next door. Need to find a decent place to eat, can anybody recommend somewhere serving English type food? Anybody been to Houstons, Fat Cat etc what are they like

Just fish and chips + Curry imo. England is a very unimaginative nation when it comes to food. Look at the italians with all their pastas, the far east with all manners of stuff, from noodles to dog to sushi etc. and the food here seems bland and boring.
Fox You Forest Posted 24 December 2010 Posted 24 December 2010 Get yourself to a roadside cafe, full english with plenty of brown sauce.

Thracian Posted 25 December 2010 Posted 25 December 2010 Don't know that I'd choose to eat in Leicester. i'd go for Chez Patron in Thurlaston where my son used to work. http://www.chefpatron.ltd.uk/menus/menuc90e.html?menu=alacarte And the Sunday lunch there is as good as I've tasted at around £20 for three courses.
NorthernFox Posted 25 December 2010 Posted 25 December 2010 I know its not "trad english" but last time I was in Leicester my stepmother took me and er indoors to Little Italy on Welford Road. Waiter was abs brill, cheeky as fvck, not cheap but the food was outstanding.

Indian restaurants in UK started to change their business model during late 1960s which led to the creation of British curry. British curry is created exclusively for the British palate, it is spicier and hotter than North Indian curry. These curries are now an integral part of British Cuisine.
