z-layrex Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Anyone else get this problem? I get on perfectly well with my bosses at work, but they keep trying to add me on facebook. I don't want them to see my page full of pictures of me drunk off my face, or a page full of sick jokes and drunken status updates. What if I want to pull a sickie (not that I ever would ) and the stupid thing blows my cover somehow? But then at work there's the awkward 'i've sent you a request on fb and you've not accepted it', and then I have to pretend i've not seen it.
ajthefox Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 My boss has facebook now but fortunately I'm not so sure the search function has become apparent. I wouldn't accept him, although I'm not quite in the position some might be as photos of me smashed/passed out would probably make no difference even if he did see them.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 This kind of thing is why I don't do facebook. You can't put everything out there for people to see without there being consequences. Not that I've anything to hide.
Benji Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Let me introduce you to the world of privacy settings. Where relationships can be hidden from girls you think could be interested and photo's are blocked from employers and colleagues. Add them, then go 'Account' > 'Privacy Settings' > 'Customise Settings' Pick what you want to change be it photos or friend wall posts etc, click 'customise' and you can dictate what each friend can and can't see by finding their name. It's a great, great feature. I, unlike Trav Le Bleu, clearly do have things to hide

Benji Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 Top advice Could of used that when I announced on FB that I got a payrise at work! Didn't go down to well!! I'm not 100% but I don't think this works for status' yet. I'm still waiting on that one!
lcfcadam Posted 16 February 2011 Posted 16 February 2011 I'm not 100% but I don't think this works for status' yet. I'm still waiting on that one! You can choose exactly who gets to see each status you make by clicking the little padlock next to the Post button

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 I've got my boss on there, he's just a normal bloke though, he'd probably encourage more blind drunk statuses, if I'm honest.
FoxyPV Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 My boss looks like Dr Robotnik from Sonic - take from that what you will.
samjohnson Posted 17 February 2011 Posted 17 February 2011 Yes, hide your statuses from those who will take offence... Sort of like what ive done with most of my family Ill only let them see certain statuses, just so they dont become suspicious >_>
