bald reynard Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 It's probably me and I've missed some crucial news update, but where is Ben Mee ? Is he injured / suspended, or what ? My concerns about his absence came to a head a few days ago, when Sven was talking about possible replacements for Van Aanholt's 'injury month' - he talked about Berner coming in (obviously !), but also mentioned Naughton playing left back and Vitor - nothing about Mee ! When he came, there was a great deal of talk (including from Sven) about Mee being able to play left back and that was a distinct possibility (before PVA coming) - I'm sure that was what led to Bruno putting in his transfer request. What's changed all that - why is he not being, "considered" by Sven for the job ?
Criggers Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 Because hopefully we will see a Mee - Bamba LCB/RCB partnership in the next game.
FuriousFox46 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 The real question is why was Mee dropped for the Cov game?
Simmo86 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 The real question is why was Mee dropped for the Cov game? Should of asked Sven at the Q & A
bald reynard Posted 3 March 2011 Author Posted 3 March 2011 The real question is why was Mee dropped for the Cov game? Completely agree with you - I don't know of any reason why he should have been dropped, he's been pretty near Man of the Match for most games in February - hence my question. I don't think he was even on the bench for the Cov match, was he ?

Mee was a substitute for Coventry match http://www.lcfc.com/page/MatchReport/0,,10274,00.html What's the point of starting a thread when you can't be bothered to get your facts straight? SGE has said that Mee wasn't dropped. He was simply not selected. SGE wanted to experiment by seeing Bamba and Bruma as centre halves. As has been disclosed there is a financial incentive in playing Bruma although Sven has denied that this affects his team selection.
Bettsj2 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 Completely agree with you - I don't know of any reason why he should have been dropped, he's been pretty near Man of the Match for most games in February - hence my question. I don't think he was even on the bench for the Cov match, was he ? Ben Mee is about 5ft 8 and both Coventry strikers were 6ft 2. Cov play alot of high balls/route 1 and Mee wouldn't be the best to deal with that as we saw on his debut against Millwall when he was up against a far taller apponent. Both Bruma and Bamba have height and strength so were deemed better equipped for that particular situation. Dont read too much into him not being in the starting 11 for that game and yes, he was on the bench.
m00nie Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 he was dropped because of marlon king.. he decided bruma was more a match for him.. sometimes you swap the team or formation to match the team your playing against.. nothing cynical in it. .
Simo86 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 He was on the bench for one game and you start a thread about him going missing? He's no Leon Crncic yet
Guest Bilo Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 He was on the bench for one game and you start a thread about him going missing? He's no Leon Crncic yet I actually feel for that lad a bit. I'm not sure he even gets a chance in the reserve outings. Must be a bastard when you've moved across Europe to be here.
Meadow Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 Bruma has better distribution. In terms of pace i m not sure but think we need to have consistancy of selection throughout the back 5

In my second post, I was asking a question, not making a statement (the clue is in the way I used a question mark) ! I started the thread (and the whole point of it really !), because I wanted to ask others, why they thought Sven didn't mention Mee as a possible replacement for Van Aanholt. 'Unreachable' - you might also want to give us your 'opinion', as to why Sven didn't mention Mee in regard to the left back slot ?!

My point was that your inquisitive mind hadn't bothered to find out whether Mee was injured or suspended since this issue has been heavily playing on your mind. Sven mentioned that he has options for the left back position and may not want to disclose those publicly. Fans expect far too much to be disclosed by managers and hang on their every word for some reason.
muzzy1981 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 Leicester Mercury Sven quote: "We have options. Bruno Berner is a left-back and Kyle Naughton has played at left-back in the past, and we saw on Saturday with his goal that there is nothing wrong with his left foot. "We could also use Miguel Vitor at right-back because he has played in that position when I saw him against Scunthorpe just before I came. Ben Mee can play there as well." Sorry 'Bald Reynard' have to agree this a pretty silly thread. The fact that Sven has stated Mee as possible replacement and that he was on the bench on sat shows he clearly hasn't "gone missing". As Sven alluded too at his Q&A the likes of Bruma have to get game time for financial and more obviously for squad strengthening purposes.

I hadn't seen that quote in the Mercury - all I'd seen was a statement / summary online, which didn't mention Mee.

I think that amounts to being, "bothered to find out". I tend to think that asking questions on FT is a fairly valid way of obtaining information (otherwise what's the point of having a Forum ?) ! You might find this difficult to believe, but Foxes Talk is my MAIN way of getting information / news on City - it's not easy living 250 miles from Leicester !

Howard9 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 I heard that chelsea told sven that bruma HAS to play to get playing time in so the only option was to either drop abe or mee and hes dropped mee so bruma can play
StanSP Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 I heard that chelsea told sven that bruma HAS to play to get playing time in so the only option was to either drop abe or mee and hes dropped mee so bruma can play Where you hear that? As far as I know, Sven's our manager. Not anyone from Chelsea.
Haydos Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 I heard that chelsea told sven that bruma HAS to play to get playing time in so the only option was to either drop abe or mee and hes dropped mee so bruma can play Not true. He stated the other evening that the loan became cheaper with the more playing time he gets. Whether this is genuinely affecting his team selection only he knows.
muzzy1981 Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 Bruma clearly has the potential to be a top player, played in every round of the youth cup Chelsea won, Dutch under 21. He actually has more league experience than Mee all be it 4 premier league games. Mee is awesome but he's a talent that needs to be nurtured, hopefully by giving them both a run we will have top CBs to play if Sol gets injured. Big fan of Vitor too, we're spolit for choice IMO.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 March 2011 Posted 3 March 2011 I'm pretty sure we'll see Mee at left back on Saturday.
