Walsh Backs Weale

Recommended Posts

From his latest blog...

"The team had shown great character to come back from behind twice and when Darius Vassell guided home to make it 2-2, I fancied the Foxes to go on and get the win, but Forest got a massive slice of fortune when the ball squirmed under Chris Weale’s body an into the goal.

"It was tough on Chris who’s a lovely bloke and cracking professional, but whilst his mistake was a terminal blow in City’s hopes for promotion, it’s not the reason why we’re not looking forward to a day out at Wembley. You have to look at the season as a whole and we’ve just given ourselves too much to do in the run-in.

"I thought Chris bounced back well against Watford on Monday and the fans were pretty good with him. He couldn’t be blamed for either of the goals and played with confidence, which just shows his experience. His place will probably be under pressure in the summer but I’ve been really impressed with him since he joined the club in 2009."

Steve Walsh praising Chris Weale is literally one of the worst things that could ever have happened. If the masses get wind of this, Weale will become even more untouchable as the gospel according to pashunut Walsheh is that Weale is lovely, a cracking pro and experienced. Cheers for that, Steve, but you're not the manager and no amount of talking this clown up will hide his appalling and increasingly frequent errors since Derby away last season. Would Walsh have come out and spoke in defence of Ricardo had it been him fvcking up at Forest? Would he fvck.

I'm glad Chris is a lovely bloke (though I'm not sure how one would know this because his communication is laughable) and a cracking professional. Hopefully it'll be to his benefit when looking for a new club in the summer. I know his positioning and long-range shot-stopping won't help him. Cya later, Chris.

This season and last season couldn't be much more contrasting for Weale.

He was so consistent last season, saving our bacon time after time and the only clanger I can think of was that one at Derby.

But this season he's been all over the place. Against Sheff U he was truly oustanding and before he got dropped for Ricardo he did well but the mistakes and inconsistencies have persisted since then.

The chopping and changing of the defence has no doubt played a big part in this but it doesn't excuse his performances and friday for me was the final straw. I can't remember leaving a ground so frustrated by one player ever.

So whilst I'd wager that under a consistent and solid defence Weale could return to his best, I've just not got the confidence in him to give him the starting spot next season when a bad start can prove so costly.

This is the crux for me.

This is the crux for me.

Why should walshie defend Ricardo? It's a personal interview or blog and as such he's entitled to put what he wants. Weale has played well for city in the past (esp last season) and so walshy can evaluate him on performances over a period of time. He'll also know weale due to his close contacts with the club and like the rest of us who have met chris at number of times, will know he is a nice guy and will support him.

I don't, and before the forest game I said his long range conceding Is getting ridiculous, I'd be much happier if we could get Westwood really do rate him!

I have NEVER met Chris Weale. I have of course read that he is a nice bloke. Well, congratulations to Chris for his great manners, sociable etiquette and warm smile.

All the attributes for a great goalkeeper you say? Is it balls! This sympathy vote for players who are shipped out or leave the club really does drive me to despair.

Shall we make a NICE bloke list of current players out on loan/ left the club recently or over the last couple of years?

Matty Fryatt

Jack Hobbs

Michael Morrison

Iain Hume

You can add your own, and I'm sure there are plenty more, it's early and I haven't had enough coffee. Players as personalities can be as nice as Mother Theresa, but if they don't suit the team, or are not performing, then sympathies must be left at the turnstile. The turnstile you pay to step through to see your team be successful. Don't be so soft!

Walsh = Great player, leader on the pitch, would love to have a player like him now ....but there's a reason why he's not gone on to become a top manager or even a top pundit.

Sven, Wenger, Mourinho, Ferguson & most top managers = mediocre players, but great managers (OK, there's the odd exception, like Guardiola & Dalglish, who can play and manage at the top level, but they're the exceptions).

Frankly, Walsh may have been a great player for LCFC, but his opinions aren't worth much more than any of ours!

I'm delighted that Tunchev is back and loved the Pogues in their day, but if Tunch brings out an album I might not buy it...and I wouldn't be pleased to hear that Shane MacGowan had signed for LCFC!

As for Weale, jury's out; great last season, patchy this season (maybe partly due to lost confidence over being dropped, selected, dropped, selected - but players just have to deal with that, I'm afraid); if he stays, I expect he'll start as No.2 keeper next season and will have to take any opportunities he gets...

Why should walshie defend Ricardo?

Because his own blatantly obvious bias makes him look like a completely clueless bandwagoner who's just saying what most fans want to hear in order to stay well in their affections. Coming out and backing Weale after the latest in a frankly lengthy and inexcusable line of comical mistakes is entirely ridiculous when he sat by idly and said nothing as a 'keeper with far more experience - and who may be just as nice a guy as Chris - was taking an absolute hammering from the stands is laughable.

How can anyone expect Leicester fans on the whole to be level-headed and fair when the man they follow blindly - Old King Pashun - has spoken out in a biased and unfair way?
