too many video games Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Hello foxes talk These days football teams are widely criticised about having no atmosphere at there stadium, and maybe ours could be one of them for example The riverside, a ghost stadium The walkers, not enough people on home games Turf moor, mostly empty Know would you sacrifice 10,000 people at the walkers next season for a very successful season or would you rather have a stadium pack to the rafters and be mid-table. Just wanted to now a few peoples opinion on the walkers on match day, do you think more people should sing or dance the poznan or even sit down and do nothing about from moan when things don't go your teams way Please go easy on me its my first post and I wanted to make it half good for me ola!
brockmyster Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Success is everything i would 100% no doubt prefer leicester to be winning in a graveyard, than losing with an atmosphere
anotherharboroughfox Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Know would you sacrifice 10,000 people at the walkers next season for a very successful season or would you rather have a stadium pack to the rafters and be mid-table That kinda defies logic.

Explain please anotherharboroughfox

purpleronnie Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Success is everything i would 100% no doubt prefer leicester to be winning in a graveyard, than losing with an atmosphere I have the opposite view. The reason I used to go was mainly because of the matchday atmosphere, as soon as Filbert street became all seater I lost interest. Of course there are areas within our new stadium that might be able to recreate this but it seems like its been lost for the most part. I enjoyed the footy in the US because most seem to be there for the atmosphere, the fun of it, the freedom of it, the result was important but less so than england. It seems the vast majority now are obsessed with success and dont care about atmosphere at all, which means I won't be venturing back anytime soon. But the weird thing is now that I dont go and have little concern about the matchday atmosphere I seem to care a lot more about the result. [p.s. And a full stadium doesnt meana good atmosphere.

The annoying thing is some teams have both, I believe if we make the prem maybe the old filbert might return, atmosphere and success I hope
The Doctor Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 atmosphere. While i'd love for us to be successful i'd rather we had a stadium that was bouncing for 90 minutes each week and be midtable championship than be in the prem and the stadium being chock-a-block with glory supporting ****** who insist on sitting in near silence, the only sound they make being the bullshit about having always supported leicester when it's clear to everyone they were a manure/chelski/arsenal/l'pool fan until city started being successful.

Agree 100% another problem LargeAl is when we hopefully play Real madrid the amount of Man utd and chelsea shirts being branded instead of city shirts will be shocking, any way hope that's a sell-out

Kitchandro Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Atmosphere breeds success. If a team feels the crowd is really behind them it is a massive lift. Clubs with fuller stadiums, bigger fanbases and louder atmosphere's are more successful. We've not had success in what seems like a long time so it would be hard to turn that down. However if we were winning the League and the atmosphere was poor it would be a lot less enjoyable. Atmosphere is the main reason for going to the football for me. Having said that, there is only so long you can be enthusiastic in the stands if nothing is beeing seen on the pitch. So I can't choose, I want both
Wymsey Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 Success more important in this league than atmosphere, but success and good atmospheres are much required to compete effectively in the Premiership.

Are attendances arnt that bad. what do you reckon weve averaged this season...23/24k?
too many video games Posted 29 April 2011 Author Posted 29 April 2011 Are attendances arnt that bad. what do you reckon weve averaged this season...23/24k? 23k most week. Its a shame we don't sell out every week like norwich or forest.
Kitchandro Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 23k most week. Its a shame we don't sell out every week like norwich or forest. Who have smaller tinpot stadiums....
MATLCFC Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 23k most week. Its a shame we don't sell out every week like norwich or forest. Forest are very poorly supported, I can assure you they do not sell out every week. 24k against us other day..... Need I say more, and we always average more than them over a season. Teams such as Leeds and Norwich obviously well supported. Derby of course get a lot each week, mainly due to generous season ticket deals. Averaging 23/24k considering the start we had isn't bad at all.
cairnsy Posted 29 April 2011 Posted 29 April 2011 About you saying our attendance is poor. STAT ATTACK! On average we are the 4th highest in attendance behind Leeds, derby and norwich, averaging 23.6k per game. And had the 3rd highest amount of people with 31k tickets sold behind only Leeds and derby. To anwser ur question Success > atmosphere but one comes with the other.

irDeano Posted 30 April 2011 Posted 30 April 2011 Are attendances arnt that bad. what do you reckon weve averaged this season...23/24k? Our average attendance this season, not including cup games, is 23,657 which is still more than quite a few teams average in this league
