LCFC94 Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Just interested, but would anybody take a mid table finish with plenty of youth players being played with promotion in a few years or would you want us to buy or get loan players in to get us promotion next season?
Kitchandro Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Promotion won't happen with a team full of loans or a team full of youth players so pointless question. Obviously everyone wants promotion as soon as possible as a priority.
North-LondonFox Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 I would love to see us get promotion with a blend of experience and youth - I thnk Schlupp and Possibly Parkes are the only ones pushing for a first team place at the mo, but taft, norburn and moore could kick on in the next couple of years. I think having some players that have come through the ranks develops a sense of loyalty - just look at the love that Mattock showed for the fans and club
googie Posted 3 May 2011 Posted 3 May 2011 Just interested, but would anybody take a mid table finish with plenty of youth players being played with promotion in a few years or would you want us to buy or get loan players in to get us promotion next season? 1) you will not get mid table finish with a load of youth teamers in the side.we would prob go down. 2)if by some miracle we built a team of youth and they got us us up in a few years the big boys would come and buy the cream of the side sending us back to square 1. 3)Our youth players never turn out that good.!Talking about building a team of youth is unrealistic going on our past history of growing young talent. We would struggle to find enough players over the last 10 years who have made it through the ranks to put out a team to compete in the Championship never mind the Premiership. We are Leicester city and while we may have more money than we have had for years, the loan market is where we will get most of the "Premier"players in from.Mix these with a couple of good perm.signings, the 2 or 3 we have coming through from the youth team with the likes of Bamba,Richie,Gally,Abi,Vas,and a couple of the loan players from last year on perm.deals and we will be up there i have no doubt.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 I couldn't give a toss if we were playing 11 amputed midgets week in week out as long as we get promotion.
ta-fc Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Speaking to a friend of mine at the weekend who works at the academy and he was saying that there is only 1 maybe 2 likely to come through the current crop but Sven seems more interested in the youth set up than both Pearson or Holloway put together.

One of them Jeffrey Schlupp possibly? I would like to see him play some part, give him a chance to impress.
Hack Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 I couldn't give a toss if we were playing 11 amputed midgets week in week out as long as we get promotion. Not very PC of you. I think the acceptable term would be "Limb challenged Little people"
dave the caveman Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 I think we'd all like a team of home-grown Leicester boys that we could feel a real affinity towards, but not if it means dropping down to the Blue Square Premier. Playing young players doesn't automatically make them good. You can't just get any group of 17-year-olds together and turn them into premiership footballers just by playing them for a few years. It doesn't work like that. Either they're good enough, or they're not. And if they're good enough, they will get in the team anyway. See Andy King.
Darkon84 Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 Of course it would be nice to see some of our youth players come through and do a really good job, but in reality, it wont happen. We need to get out of this league as soon as we can, and thats what Sven/the owners want and are striving towards. Next season will be exciting to say the least

Doesn't surprise me at all. Some people have criticised him for not playing any this year, but I don't think the time was really right. Sure we'll see a few, mostly Schlupp, next year. He had a pretty good record at playing youngsters at Man City.

Next season will be exciting to say the least It's exactly in a team full of quality competing for promotion you want to blood young players (provided they've got potential). I think it's realistic, if Schlupp keeps fit and continues his development, that Sven will give him about 10-15 appearances next season.

I agree that to have a couple of quality youngsters in a team like that would be beneficial. I'm certain (I hope at least) that Schlupp will get game time, which Im more than happy with, but a team FULL of youngsters (as the OP suggested), simply wouldnt cut it.
Foxes4Life18 Posted 4 May 2011 Posted 4 May 2011 I'd Give Schlupp a chance tbh I think he's a decent player no doubt that we will see him play some part in pre season and maybe next season!
