Cockney Fox Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 I believe we have the best chance in years to get promoted this season - a feeling which is shared by bookmakers, fans and players alike. But, how come everyone seems to have accepted that if Sven doesn't lead us up, it's inevitable he'll get the chop? Has the sudden influx of cash and owners heady ambitions removed our need for stability - something that has been our top priority for the past 5-6 years? Let's not forget last season was still only a mid-table finish. If we weren't to get promoted this season, would you really want Sven to be replaced? Just because he's been given a shed load of cash, we all know that it doesn't necessarily bring immediate success. I'm worried that we might miss out narrowly this year and be forced to add yet another manager to the merry-go-round at the Walkers. In my opinion, Sven should really be given a guarantee of another couple of seasons. He's clearly a class manager and has the ability to draw top talent. Giving him the boot if we don't go up will just be an impatient, knee-jerk reaction that will get us nowhere quicker than if he stayed. Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 His contract expires at the end of the season for a start. Unless we go up it won't be renenwed

Fox92 Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Lets just see how this season/the start of the season goes first. I was pretty impressed with Sven last season. He steadied the ship and brought in some good players in the process. We had some fantastic results under Sven, but, although the owners most probably wanted promotion, Sven did well coming in and moving the team forward.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 I would still wish to retain Sven, unless the season was a total disaster. We do need stability, and that starts with the manager.

The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 make or break season then really in lots of ways It certainly is. The owners SEEM ok but they've not had that much thrown at them to test their resolve yet. Who's to say they won't do one if we don't go up?!
Haydos Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 I really think he should get 2 full seasons. Last season was (almost) a write off, promotion push wise. And come the end of the summer we will hopefully have put together a cracking squad. His squad. If we're starting to look good, and play more like a team, but miss out on promotion, keep him on for one more year.
Babylon Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 If we are in the promotion mix up, either automatic or playoffs come the end of the season they we should seek to keep him. Changing managers would only bring more player changes, tactic changes etc and we'd start from scratch again.

I suppose it'll depend on the results and position of LCFC in the table.
The Sven Revolution Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Its very simple..his contract will not be renewed if we don't go up THIS season! If we have a cracking season and somehow still dont go up, most of us would want Sven to be given atleast another year, but my I think the owners want promotion THIS year or else...
Kent Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 To be honest I don't see what would happen if we didn't get promoted nevermind if SGE left.
accessory Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 Top and co haven't come halfway around the world to slum around for a few years in the lower leagues. Every season we spend outside the top flight costs the club, financially and otherwise. With Sky giving lower-league clubs less money next year the premium on being promoted in the coming campaign has increased. And our owners have every right to expect a return from a manager whose salary is probably among the highest in the league, with a transfer and salary budget to match. The consequences of yet another season of failure for us do not really bear thinking about.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 3 July 2011 Posted 3 July 2011 We should stick with Sven. But we NEED to go up this year.

Now you have managed to have a dig on Sven in two separate posts. I think the pressure is harder on teams coming down from PL with a team of PL-players instead of ours with Championship players unless the owners pump in the rumoured 50 mill. If Sven gets 50 mill to gamble with I think you have a point.
