Freeman's Wharfer Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 He can't be 'crap' as you put it if he has signed a contract at Manchester City. A squad which is fulled of International quality. Flawed logic. Elvis Hammond can't have been crap is Fulham gave him a contract, Junior Lewis can't have been crap if Taylor thought he was good enough for a Premiership team, Akinbiyi can't have been crap if we paid £5million for him....
act smiley Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Oh come on, he was bad, but not Elvis bad.
Guest MattP Posted 7 September 2011 Posted 7 September 2011 Elvis was decent. Good lord, i think I'd only actually rank Josh Low as worse than Hammond.

No its not. Some footballers show promise but fail, ok Hammond did have a contract but Fulham noticed he wasn't good enough and sold him to Leicester, while make progress and maybe gain another contract (like McGivern). All I'm saying is he wasn't as bad as what most people make out. I don't think he is one of the worst players to ever play for Leicester (he played 12 games), and was 19 years of age with little experience behind him (a loan spell at Morcambe). He might have improved now. He made an apperance for Manchester City last season, and thats a very strong and quality International-filled team.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 7 September 2011 Posted 7 September 2011 Mcgivern was only young when he here. He will have improved at lot now with experience. Ben mee was poor in his first game but grew with confidence and experience. The fans wanted him to stay because he was one of our best defenders. Fans didnt want mcgivern to sign because of their love for bruno berner. As for someone saying junior lewis must have been good. He was shite. He only got in the prem because he was peter taylors love toy ! Followed him everywhere. !
ozleicester Posted 7 September 2011 Posted 7 September 2011 Young kid, still learning had a couple of good games for us and a few poor ones. In regard to Mee, until his two 40 yard goals, i had the feeling that most around the place thought he was sh*t. exactly the same as Mcgivern to me, still learning but scored and got the fans off his back. Still to early for me to tell, but Man city dont sign people for the hell of it.

He only got in the prem because he was peter taylors love toy ! Followed him everywhere. ! I wasn't saying Junior Lewis must have been good. He's the worst player I've ever seen at Leicester. I was saying that by using the logic of "Oh McGivern must be good he's at Man City" you could reach conclusions about several other (clearly terrible) players being good. No its not. Some footballers show promise but fail, ok Hammond did have a contract but Fulham noticed he wasn't good enough and sold him to Leicester, while make progress and maybe gain another contract (like McGivern). All I'm saying is he wasn't as bad as what most people make out. Seeing someone week in week out is, to me, a better way to judge their abilities than to just assume that because they've been given a new contract they're a decent player. And the views of the people that have done (many LCFC fans and Walsall fans from last season's loan spell he had there) seem to be unfavourable in the main. I think Pearson realised how dire he was too, he only ever played when we were desperate. We'd probably never agree on this because I do think he's one of the worst players to ever have played for LCFC. The amount of times he would cost us goals was insane - even if not a direct, obvious mistake if you watched the run of the opposition player who got on the end of the cross to score he'd inevitably lose McGivern shortly before. I stumbled across this yesterday incidentally which I wholeheartedly agree with: http://exiledrobin.blogspot.com/2011/09/ryan-mcgivern-bright-new-hope.html
