ousefox Posted 3 August 2011 Posted 3 August 2011 Right, was playing 5-a-side today, the other team had a free-kick, i kneeled down in front of it and spread myself out to make it harder for the ball to get past. The ref told me that you weren't allowed to put your knee on the floor. Is this right? This really pissed me off and the ref is usually wank, so someone please give me evidence that he's wrong!
NeilyBoy Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Can't find it here... Just a small-time ref on a power trip if you ask me.

This is actually amusing. I doubt it's a rule but as I'd imagine as long as you have you maintain your yards, you can do pretty much whatever you want!
Darkon84 Posted 4 August 2011 Posted 4 August 2011 Ive never heard a rule against doing that before. I know most places disallow slide tackling, so he could have just mis-interpreted that rule. I'll be giving that technique a try next week when I play, though knowing my luck, i'll get the ball smashed in my face

It's really good actually, great way to stop people scoring from freekicks, although it has been known to get me right in the balls on occasions! Oh and to overcome this refs stupid decision, i raised my knee a cm above the ground Oh and is there a rule against shoulder barging in 5-a-side? Our ref seems to think so...

Yea I know what you mean about some refs. When we first started in our league, the refs were rea pally pally with all the other teams so always gave them advantages and decisions over us etc. Its changed now though, just gotta play through it and get some respect. And as for the shoulder barging, im pretty sure theres nothing wrong with that either, I've been put/put people in to the fence (legally shoulder barging) many a time.
broughtonblue Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 A lot of refs are on ego trips. Remember years ago a ref gave a crap decision, my mate went up to him and said 'if I called you a cvnt, what would you do?' ref- 'send you off' my mate replied 'if I thought you was a cvnt what would you do?' ref-'couldn't do anything' to which my mate replied 'I think your a cvnt then!' ref sent him off!
DB11 Posted 7 August 2011 Posted 7 August 2011 There is no generic five a side. Each competition / league sets their own rules so you'd have to ask them. And putting the knee on the floor from a set play (usually corners) is common practice in Futsal... it's as common as setting up a wall for an attacking free kick in 11 a side!

I think you've cursed me . Over the last two weeks, we have had a new ref and has penalised us a fair few times for making a tackle where one of my knees touches the ground. He sees this as a slide tackle. What a Cvnt! He also allowed one player to aggressivly kick at me 3 times in one run, without giving a free kick, then when i did lose the ball he said i shouldnt have tried to be Maradonna! FFS, I was being an honest player and staying on my feet, next time I'll go down screaming like Sergio Busquets. Bellend!

The Internet is always your friend for these sort of thing... Goals - link to 5 aside rules I picked goals as they are pretty nationwide and having read the rules, there's nothing specific against doing what you did - but the ref could say it's against the spirit of the rules. Just go 'k style' slightly crouched block position?
