The record is Gary McSheffrey from Coventry to Birmingham for £5.3M. Well that's what another forum says anyway. I think we were in the premiership at the time, but wasn't that the amount we paid for ade akinbye? Undoubtedly one of greatest strikers!

McSheffrey's fee was actually less than £4m, according to Wiki.

Still massively overpriced, though. Was he even playing for Cov yesterday? :unsure:

Mills isn't even the biggest buy of the summer. Some reports say West Ham paid £5m for Kevin Nolan.

I'm led to believe that the fee was 4m and there was another 1.3m at the end of the season. It could be completely wrong but It's worth commenting with as it makes me chuckle .
